What did Uncle Sam teach you to shoot?

The Breeze mostly.

I had some of the longest conversations about nothing in the middle of a workday. It blew my mind how much time I spent talking about nothing. I learned how to kill an entire day with meetings.

And uncle SW taught me how to shoot down crappy ideas. I can now tell you 100 reasons why most ideas won't work. I used to be foolishly optimistic.
 
1996, 36 rounds total live practice with AK47 in the Bulgarian army, maybe another 1000 before that during my high school years - we had a range in the school basement and I was the only one interested.
Many thousands of .22 at the same range, the retired colonel running the program was exited to have somebody there.

Shot the M1 Garand great except at 300 yards.

Most interesting--BAR-it actually walked AWAY from your shoulder. After 3 or 4 rounds, you had to pull it back to your shoulder.

Might of been one or two others, but the only firearms I shot 'somewhat' regularaly was the M4, M9, 249, and 240. If it makes a difference, we got to go to the advanced course on how to call for fire, and request CAS...

Forgot to mention the HK UMP40, HK P2000, and an 870 while doing a training exercise with the US Border Patrol. The UMP was by far one of the most fun I have shot to date.
 
1966-1986 USAF, basic training M-16, Air police school M16, S&W Model 15 combat masterpiece, 12 Gage shotgun, M-60 machine gun, hand grenade. Advanced weapons training before deployment to Vietnam all the above plus M-79 grenade. Qualified on all weapons listed.plus others along the ways. First issued weapon was a M-1 Carbine. I was also trained to defend the Constitution from all enemies foreign and domestic.

Qualified Expert on an "M-16A2", but I believe most of y'all would call it a "franken-gun"

Qualified Sharpshooter :mad: on a worn out M-9

Expert on grenade, bayonet, and auto-cannon. (25mm on the Brad) :D

Learned all there was to know about fighting as an Armored Vehicle Crewman and a Mounted Scout. Three years later I went down range and rode about in a Humvee carrying an M-4A1/-203 and an M-9.:rolleyes:

Got to fire for familiarization the following: M-249, -240, Mk-19, M-2, and M-60.

Thanks to the ANA I got to shoot a multitude of Russian cast off AKs and an Egytpian marked .303 Enfield.
 
Pahoo, You're going back there. I got the M-16 with attached grenade launcher and the M 60 machine gun.
I was only a lowly E.F. so I was never trained on, nor issued a sidearm.
Thankfully I never had to use either one.
Oh yes, like B'Bill, I was A.F.
Hey, we looked like a pretty snazzy Greyhound driver in those blues you know.
 
All I ever got from the USN was .45 on a plain old 1911a.

I did qualify with it, rather than just shoot a few rounds like many sailors. For guys like me (electronics technician) small arms training wasn't "important" so you had to befriend the gunners mates.

Of course, if you had a brain in your head in the military you learned to befriend a lot of people, the cooks, the dispersing clerk, etc. there were all manner of people you wanted as your friend.
 
Army 1960-1966, Recently obtained a set of my service records from the St Louis Center...was suprised to see what I had long forgotten about what I qualified on during thos days 52 years ago
