What centerfire handguns have a .22LR counterpart?

Hello carguychris and PzGren

hey Chris:

I would have lost a bet on that one,,,
I would have guessed their .22's were all Frontier Scouts.

Thanks for the info. :)

Hey PzGren:

You could be called evil you know,,, ;)
I still owe a bit more than $800 on the CZ's,,,
I'm looking at spending probably $1,400 to $1,500 on the Beretta's,,,
I still need to find a S&W Model 14 and a Model 17 to fill out my K-frames,,,
And there you go laying a picture of that beautiful Walther PP in front of my eyes.

Did you give a sinister chuckle as you posted that picture?

I can't believe you sold the .32 pistol,,,
Even if I never shot it I could not break up a set,,,
I could maybe sell them as a pair but never just one of them.

That's the Obsessive Compulsive part of me talking,,,

.

Walther TPH comes in the centerfire .25acp as well as the .22lr.

Daewoo DH380 in .380acp and the DP52 in .22lr. A Walther PP clone.

Astra Constable came in .380 and .22lr.

Aaron,

it was indeed evil of me to post that photo. I spent sleepless nights after looking at that one gun that I needed to have when I was younger.

I sold the PP in .32 because i just wanted someone to enjoy it and I had to reduce the numbers in my accumulation of firearms.

I can recommend a S&W M14, I have one since around 1985 and bought my S&W K-22 about ten years later. Here are some more photos that I post in my evilness...

S&W Model 64 .38 special, Model 63 .22 lr

That is a close call but the M64 is a K-frame while the M63 is built on a J-frame.

The list gets longer

I can't edit the original post to add these latest pairs,,,
I'll start a second list here.

Not sure if these have been mentioned.

Walther's P.38 - 9mm or 7.65 Luger also available as a .22 complete pistol or kit.

Smith & Wesson's Model 53 .22 Magnum 'Jet" had it's own .22LR counterpart in the same box in the form of the inserts/spare cylinder.

Hello JT-AR-MG42,,,

P-38 in .22 LR,,,
I wouldn't have thunk it,,,
But I did find one on gunbroker.

I added it to the 2nd list posting,,,
Thanks my friend.

.

Aaron,

please add in your listing of conversion units one of the gems from my humble collection; a real SIG, the P210. SIG made a conversion unit for them.

I just remembered another .22 Beretta that I used to have that had a centerfire counterpart, the Beretta 948, in centerfire it was the 1934.

The Beretta 21a was also available in .22 and .25, I think.

Hello PzGren,,,

I added the pistols to the second list,,,
I can't "edit" the original post anymore so I started a second list on post #45.

.

There is a 3rd party .22lr conversion kit for the Taurus PT-92/PT-99 here, just scroll down a bit.

No, I don't have one for my PT-92. Yes, I want one.

Het SpaceCoast,,,

And I thought I was the only one who was addicted to collecting pairs.

I am keeping this list in a Word document as well,,,
If anyone wants a copy of it for their use I'll E-mail them a copy,,,
Because it does look like a lot of folk have the same affliction as I have.

I would love to have any of the Walther pairs,,,
And the Beretta 84/87 is definitely on my wanna-own list.

I need to find someone with a 6" Colt Trooper Mk III in .357,,,
Someone who would want to trade it for a 4" version.

Then a Model 14/Model 17 pair and I would be done,,,
Until another intriguing pair showed up. ;)

.

Aaron,

I prefer the Colt Officer Model Match over the Troopers, unfortunately they are not cheaper and prone to display the same timing problems with use. Even in a rimfire - but few people really shoot their guns extensively enough to experience it.

The small-frame Dan Wesson revolver was available in .22LR, .22 Magnum; .32 H&R Magnum, .32-20 Winchester, .38 Special and .357 Magnum. Except for the rimfires, they are only different in the barrel and the chambers. The rimfires have a slightly shorter cylinder and, obviously, a different firing pin location.

Hey DWfan,

don't do that to Aaron! Those DW's are good quality and might pose a serious temptation for him!!!:)

I have a Beretta 86 Cheetah and the 87 target model and a 6" Colt Diamondback .22 and a 6" .357 Python. I can't even shoot the Python with the stock grips, these Hogue Walnut grips on the Diamondback are fantastic and make the gun hold and sit perfectly angled in your hand, they were really well engineered.

I have run thousands of rounds through the Diamondback hunting and target shooting and a couple of thousand through the Beretta with no signs of hard wear on either. I cock and shoot and have very rarely shot it double action which may relieve timing wear. The Diamondback started to get some bluing wear out on the end of the barrel from the holster which is a Safariland, but that was after years of constant hunting carry as a sidearm.

These are both some of my favorite all time guns.

Sorry no matchers in this pic, (I just took this picture as the guns were handy), the 87 and Python are put away, these are my out and about guns. The 86 is nightstand, the Diamonback by the side of my TV chair.
