There have been quite a few threads lately that have mentioned guns that have a .22LR counterpart.

What guns (or conversion kits) do you know of that have .22LR mates?

These are the ones I know of:

S&W: Model 36 in .38 Special & Model 34 in .22LR. (I own this pair)

S&W: Model 15 in .38 Special & Model 18 in .22LR. (I own this pair)

S&W: Model 14 in .38 Special & Model 17 in .22LR.

S&W: Model 10 in .38 Special & Model 45 in .22LR. (very rare and I want one) ;)

S&W: Model 442 in .38 Special & Model 43 C in .22LR.

Colt: Trooper Mk III in .357 Mag & Trooper Mk III in .22LR. (I own this pair)

Bersa: Firestorm .380 & Firestorm .22LR.

Colt: 1911 in .45ACP & 1911 Ace in .22LR.

Sig: SIG P229 in 9mm/.357 Sig/.40 S&W & P229 Classic 22 in .22LR

There is an interesting thing about these .22 Sigs,,,
Sig sells a conversion kit for all three of the Classic 22's,,,
That converts the .22 pistol to shoot the appropriate centerfire cartridges.
Someone please go to the Sig website and double-check to ensure I read this correctly.

Close - only frame size differences:

Ruger single six and the blackhawk
colt scout and SAA

Any K-22 and a k framed .38,
TC contender and a TC contender...LOL - also hold true for an encore...
Colt Ace and a Colt 1911

Thanks RickB

I was certain that Colt made a 1911 in .22LR,,,
I just never heard the name of the gun.

Wow!,,,
I just did a quick check on gunbroker,,,
I surely ain't gonna be buying one of those Aces anytime soon.

Diamondback in .22 wouldn't be cheap either,,,
In the vicinity of a grand or more.

Slick looking guns though.

Thanks RickB

Thanks mikejonestkd,,,

Close is not bad,,,
I have a Cimarron SA clone in .357,,,
It's not a bad match to my Colt Frontier Scout in .22LR.

I have them in the same display box at least. ;)

SW J frame snub ( small frame )

.38 / .357 5 shot Steel frame, cylinder 640 / Aluminum frame , Ti cylinder 340PD Airlight / Airweight and a bunch of others )

.22 LR 8 shot 317 Aluminum frame, pretty sure Aluminum cylinder

SW L frame ( large frame )

.38 / .357 6 shot 686

.22 LR 8 shot 617 4 to 6" barrel ( I think that is the # ) there is also a 10 shot version

Ruger AR style black gun

.223 Rem SR-556

.22 LR SR-22 Though I'm told it is more of a MarkIII pistol hiding inside black gun shrouding to make it look like a AR platform.

Guns that are close don't count if someone needs a training gun that has the feel of their PD gun. Grip angle consistency between practice and carry is critical if you are going to develop point and shoot skills. To a lesser extent overall weight and balance will affect point and shoot.

I'm guessing everyone has figured out what 22 I want ;)

When I was in the service, they had .22 converted 1911 training pistols. They had a floating inertia block that gave the .22 a recoil that mimicked a .45ACP.

Here's a link to an article on the Colt Ace and Service Ace converted 1911s.

If you are looking at conversions.

AR-15, I have the Ceiner. There are better ones now.

All the Glocks, I have the AA conversion for G26 and G21 size. I would like the others.

1911s, I want a Marvel.

Anything in 45LC (the conversion looks like 45LC bullets), I have a set of these, but have not tried them.

I have a S&W K22. This would be the counter part to any S&W K frame.

And there is of course
http://mcace.com/
I have a 222Rem to 22LR conversion. Accuracy is not good.

I have heard of a Luger in 22LR.

I have heard of conversions for Mac-10, Uzi, and a few other full auto toys.

Thanks danez71,,,

I was unaware that the Bersa Firestorm .380 also had a .22 counterpart,,,
I'll add that pair to my list.

Thanks,,,

22 and .45

EAA sells a .45 acp steel Witness model that includes the .22 conversion kit for around $600.
The Kit is a new barrel&slide and one magazine.

Notes:
Most of the conversion kits do not hold open after the last round.
Most of the conversion kits are 'picky' about .22 ammo.

I had to try five different types of High Velocicity .22 before I found one that worked around 95% percent of the time.
But its worth it to me to have:
  • Same grip
  • Same Trigger
  • and cheap .22 ammo to practice with.

I see someone already plugged the 92 conversion kit from Beretta.

This one also counts I think, the Sig Mosquito is based on the P226 ... at roughly 90% of the size.

Cool gun, to bad they don't work better.

Hello pgdion,,,

Cool gun, to bad they don't work better.

That is a shame isn't it,,,
They are very nice feeling pistols.

I know two people at my range who own a Mosquito,,,
I see them experiencing a failure to feed quite often.
