What are you getting for HK Days?

This really stinks, I want a P30L so bad. All my upcoming play money needs to be spent on ammo. Anyone want to donate to the fund Harry's P30 fund? My daughters would thank you.

@sigarms228

If only you hadn't posted that deal on the USP 40 I could have written this off as one of those deals I just can't afford. Now I just might have to buy another USP.

Always trying to help! :D

@sigarms228

To make matters worse I have to choose between this and getting one of those surplus beretta 92s going around. The USP is the better deal overall, but $300 is a lot less money and doesn't put as much strain on the finances.

But I really want another USP.

Just make sure that you are aware, those are NOT the standard Beretta 92 as in use by the military. These are euro imports with the funky heel magazine release, similar to the early P220 design. Magazines will not be as plentiful or cheap as with normal 92s.

@Uncle Malice Thanks for the warning, but I am indeed aware it's not the same model. I am buying this almost entirely as a range toy or potentially a safe queen if I can find one in nice enough condition. The heel-release is definitely not ideal for a defensive weapon, but I don't plan on purchasing it as such. The historical nature of the firearm is also appealing to me. Might be a collector's item in a few decades.

And I mean it's not like I could carry a full size USP 40 anyways, so it's not like this is a choice between two potential carry guns. However, the USP would make a much nicer nightstand gun than the Beretta, which is less adequate in that role. And the $200 rebate is a very attractive offer.

Tough choice, but my own financials are pushing me towards the Beretta.

Why not? I can carry my USP without an issue(concealed).... I carry the HK 45 more frequently though, which is a good bit larger.

The USP is a little thick but it's pretty short in the grip... basically the same a G19... with the slide length of the G17.

For both I use a Comp-Tac Infidel or a hybrid style like Alien Gear, MTAC, Crossbreed.

Not to hijack the thread but those 92S most likely won't ever have a lot of collector value because they have a secondary import mark on them and they are not really discontinued but have current improved versions available. That does not mean they will not make a great gun.

As for the European Heel release it does not stop people from carrying the HK P7s that came in a few years back. See I got back on topic. ;) Some people find that once they have trained with it the heel release is as fast or faster then the button. It all comes down to what you train with.

@Uncle Malice For me the width is the issue. I have decent-sized hands so, it's not an issue in terms of actually firing the pistol, but I have a slight frame (6'2" 170), so carrying the USP IWB without imprinting is extremely difficult without a jacket and also just uncomfortable. I can see how it would be easier for someone with a wider torso, but I'm taller than I am long.

I have a USP Compact too, not a full size, and it's still just too big for me.

@WVSig Thanks for the tip. I'm not well-versed in the finer details of collecting firearms. I guess that means I don't have to be feel bad about using it as a range toy if I go that route. :D

WOW I have always wanted a USP-45 (full size) as a nightstand gun. I like DA/SA for this pourpose and it's... IT'S JUST SO COOL!

I might have to take advantage of HK days! :D

Ah, understood. No worries. Good luck whichever way you go!

Ouch. I bought my P30L's (two of them) about 9 months ago. Before the VP9 came out and all the subsequent downward pressure on P30 pricing... Oh well...

I'm tempted to pick up a VP9 but I'm torn between that and a PPQ and just standing pat with the P30L's...

Just ordered a P30 v3 9mm this morning, so I'll be getting 2 rebates now.

HK 45 CT and P30 V3.

The P30 might be making a trip to Gray Guns.

I couldn't resist haha. I had recently picked up a VP9 and a 45C, so I wasn't planning on another Hk, but the P30S has been calling my name for awhile now.

I purchased one today for $863. Minus the $200 rebate, $683 for a NIB P30 is a great deal.

Here she is, still covered in oil-
