Finally found some 22lr at Midway.com. Ordered 500 at about 8c a round. Worth it to not have to worry for a bit longer.

Wow - you got lucky! I just checked Midway, and they don't have *any* .22lr that's either "in stock" or "backorder OK".

I can tell now that I've stocked up. I check a few websites multiple times a day. It can change as they get stock in and sell stock. A couple of days ago I found some on a site and by the time I got my CC from my dresser, it was gone. You have to move fast.

www.bulkammo.com keeps their site updated as stock comes in.
Ammoseek.com is another good one that searches other sites. I found some there yesterday only to find that that store doesn't ship to TN for some reason.
Ammuntiontogo.com
Ammo.net
And Midwayusa.com is where I scored some.

Picked up two 20 round boxes of Independence 5.56 for $9.50 each. Two was all that was allowed per day. They received 100 boxes and I don't expect it will last long even with the limit.

5 boxes of federal 40 two different Walm No. Va. yesterday
9 boxes of federal 9mm 3 different Walm No. Va today

3 boxes of 300 Blackout 115 grain for $30... each!! Used to be $11 a box before this mess, but the olny ammo I have seen anywhere in over a month.

Yesterday, I picked up 2 50 count boxes of Winchester White box 38spl for $18.98 each at Walmart. They had 2 more left on the shelf.

Last night wal-mart had 7.62x39 with a 3 box limit, I got 3 and the girlfriend got 3. Woke up this morning and bought 3 more. It's still not enough to go shoot though. I don't like not having AK ammo around.

Went to Wal-Mart this morning, looking for .22 lr. Nothing on the shelf, but another customer was talking to the sales clerk, telling him that according to "the computer", there should be ten 325-count packs of Federal Automatch. I don't know if the customer was able to check availability on the web, or if he got the information from another store.

The clerk thought that everything they had was out, but he went back to check, and sure enough, he came out with not only the Automatch, but a case of 9mm, a case of .40 S&W, some .270 and some shotgun shells.

Bought three boxes of the Automatch, and I'm going to see if I can figure out how to check availability online.

500 rounds of .45 acp reloads (which have a very good reputation) for $190 otd.
And I have 250 rounds of new .45 acp being delivered next week. That was $133 delivered.

I was at my local range/gunshop today. I picked up 4 boxes of .223 Hornady Tactical Application Police ammunition 20 cartridges for $26.99 a box. I also picked up 100 rounds of .38 special for $36.00. I was talking with the owner and he told me that they have been notified that starting April 1st his cost to purchase ammo from his suppliers will be going up. He said that his cost for ammo will be going up as follows.

  • center fire rifle ammo will be going up by 15%
  • Rim fire ammo will be going up by 10%
  • Pistol ammo will be going up by 5%

I also stopped by Walmart and the case where they had there ammunition now contains car radios and speakers. May be this is a sign that they are not going to carry ammo any longer.

I guess we will just have to wait and see what happens.

Got 6 boxes of .40 Winchester (the white box) and a couple boxes of Hornady Critical Defense at the local gunshop They have a 5 box limit, but I was with my wife, so we divided it between the two of us.

They had just put out their ammo at Wal-Mart, this afternoon. Plus they had .44mag so I bought 2 boxes (WWB) and 1 box of Federal 40S&W.

Jacking upthe prices

I am new to this forum, but after reading this post and seeing how difficult it is to find ammo (9mm) in Tulsa, I thought I would post my thoughts. I mostly have some CCI target ammo, which is good, but I still want to have brass and JHP's. About a month ago I bought the last box of Federal 9mm FMJ blue box for about $14.00 and have'nt seen any at that store since. Less in the checks thanks to the way the people voted, so not as much to spend on ammo. Not as many trips to WalMart now.

Friday I went to Dongs Guns and Reloading and I left the store talking to myself saying. "That's wrong" repeatedly. The same Federal 9mm ammo from WM was $29.00 and there seemed to be a good supply of it. The UMC 250 round yellow case was $139.00. This is where I usually buy ammo so I hope the prices come down when the supply increases. I just could'nt believe the prices. They still had a good supply of guns but I thought there goes buying another gun if ammo is going to stay that high.

I stopped by a Bass Pro and was rather disgusted (yes, its a free market) by behavior. It was clearly a wave of hoarders and flippers grabbing everything. Guys bring their wives to load up also. So, I asked one guy point blank what does he shoot - and the guy and wife were dumbfounded by the question. She looked down and said he was stashing.

For what? I buy a fair amount for competitions. These folks are just

Yes, it's a free market.

It is unfortunate because most people I know who shoot just want to go to the range and can't because they can't get the ammo and they are certainly not going to shoot defensive rounds.

Any Primers?

Pretty soon these threads will be about finding primers or used brass or powder. Does anybody have any idea of how long it might be before we can go to a gunstore and buy what we are used to? The House will not pass anything and the Senate has some Dems that won't pass that cr*ppy assault weapon ban bill (what we all refer to as "GUN" ban bill), so the manufacturers need to step it up. I will start buying the old stuff from the pawn shop before I quit looking.

Buy a Lee Loader and become a manufacturer.
