Weekly Wal-mart Trip

A poorly glued box? Wal-Mart doesn't actual glue those boxes you know? At least the guy asked if you were okay with it.
I gotta be honest here, if Wal-Mart irrates you that bad, shop elsewhere.
Personally, I know going into it what to expect but considering their prices, I find it's a trade off I can live with. I'm sure there are a few gun shops in the area that would certainly like to sell you ammo and can certainly do it quicker than what Wal-Mart can.

(I categorize myself as a "misplaced Texan")I gather he was "irked" by this because a good sales rep would know NOT to give a paying consumer a product with a damaged box if there are still more in stock that aren't. Common sense. Anyone that has ever worked retail should know these things. Its about customer relations. The customer that eventually got the last box (with slightly damaged packaging) wouldn't care as much because he was getting the LAST box.
The rest of you are just lucky to be able to buy ammo at wallyworld. No where around me can you do this. I'm lucky if I can find a DICK's Sporting goods that still sells ammo around here. 3 of em local to me just took out their guns/ammo/hunting sections. Now I gotta take a longer ride to a different Dick's or to NY state to Gander Mountain, or a 3 hour ride to Cabelas in PA.
Only one time that I can remember anyone from Wal-Mart asking me what the ammo was for. I looked right at her and said "it's for my machinegun." She didn't bat an eyelash.
I do remember getting funny looks at the checkout stand with a basket full of 50 round boxes of .357 ammo. (at the special sale price) at a Frey Meyer's years ago.

I was asked what I was going to use the ammo for as well. I replied, "Zip gun." The young clerk stared at me with a very puzzled look on his face...
FWIW, the stores unload their trucks at about 3am and stock the ammo cases around that time if you are having a difficult time finding your particular ammo. One local dealer buys up all of WM's stock early, then sells it at his store for 2x the price.

I love Walmart-but I, too, "only go when I have to." If I didn't have to go in the first place, why would I go at all? The same could be said for about anyplace I shop (except Cabelas and the like, places I like to "window-shop" at
).But for just about everything besides looking for something like, say, a nice, used Colt revolver, I'm a Walmart fan!

three gun is right. they ask you because the age to purchase for a handgun is higher. it is programmed into the register to prompt them to ask. usually they just look at me and realize i'm way over 21, but some young girl who works the register some times always asks me for my id, even tho she sees me twice a month. you wouldn't think she would forget the 6'6" 275lb guy with the beard that walks in that often buying ammo.
I usually can't stand my local Wally World. They never keep anything in stock, the people in there refuse to help you, and the place always looks like a tornado just passed though it.
However, I can't find anything cheaper than their $32 100 round value packs of WWB .45 ACP, so I try to pick it up when I can. That usually turns into a half hour ordeal though, as there is never anyone in sporting goods, and when you actually do find someone they are never the person with the key. Last time I bought ammo I literally asked 5 people for help and had to wait 30 mins. If my local Academy wasn't twice the price for the same box of ammo, Walmart would never see me again.

Wow, I can not believe you guys are having problems with the condition of the store. Have you ever written the company and complained about the store or its' employees?
Maybe I am just lucky, but the closet Walmart is just down the road from where I live and the guys and one lady who work in sporting goods know their guns and ammo. (Unless I go at three AM, then I have to wait for someone, who has to call a manager, who has to find out what they did with the keys.)
I buy ammo at Walmart for guns I do not load for, or when I am getting low on empties and I want to reload (Mostly shotgun shells).

And I'm looking at a letter of apology and a 10 bucks gift card from my local store manager.
I'm not a professional shopper where I'm going to make multiple trips per week to shop at Walmart. All I ask is to have stocked shelves and enough employees to staff these Taj Mahal's their building.

Im not implying that its a Wal-fart policy but one of our local Wal-farts actually hides the 9mm, 40mm, and 45 acp ammo in a wooden desk and there are no signs anywhere even stating they have these commonly used rounds. For months our local store even left the price tags of these rounds on the shelves next to all the other ammo and all the sales people claimed they didnt have any and they didnt know when they were going to get any ammo.
The truth came out one day when a new guy that I asked about the ammo said "Yes, we have those but we keep them locked up over here." (or somthing close to this) and then called his very unhappy manager who begrugingly opened up the unmarked wooden door and revealed a very reasonable supply of 9,40,45 ACP ammo.
I complained to every level of management including the national level and never got more than blown off.
So if your being told they dont have the rounds.... maybe they don't and maybe they do... It is most certainly a political thing as its mighty hard to sell products that arent available to the public eye and the sales people deny having.

I keep some commercial rounds available for when friends/family want to shoot my weapons, but are not comfortable shooting my reloads. I swung by WM the other day (Saginaw, TX) and amazingly they DID have WWB in .45ACP. Bought three boxes (left two for the next guy). It's been early december since the last time I saw WWB in .45ACP (or anything other brand for that matter).
