Weather affect which gun you carry? (CCW)

Summer it's my 380 S&W bodyguard in a pocket or ankle rig. Fall and winter, when I get to wear a nice coat with a concealed "Pistol Pocket" it's a .40 XD subcompact with a Crimson Trace.

V*Completely as a joke*V
If it's raining and I can get away with a black trenchcoat and 1930's style hat I love to carry my 7.62x39 Draco pistol with a one point sling and a 75 round drum mag... (can already hear the helos coming... *thump thump thump*)

If it's raining, I carry a Glock so it won't rust. And if it does rust, it was ugly to begin with, so it doesn't matter. :D

With that thinking you should carry a Hi-Point!:D....I didn't just say that, did I?

Seriously, wet, or dry makes little difference. Hot weather, very light clothes, and deep concealment needed. Ruger LCP in a DeSantis Superfly in my front pocket.
When the temperature cools enough that you can no longer fry an egg on your car roof, I go with a KAHR CM9 in a Theis hybrid IWB holster. When heavier clothing is worn by me, and the possibility of an attacker being equally dresses I carry a S/A XD40 Sub Compact, again IWB. My Elsie usually always accompanies me if not as my only gun, as my BUG.

I carry a Glock 26 and last winter
I had to jump in neck deep water.
my dog went thru the ice in the beaver
pond and was just hanging on
by her paws.
No harm to the gun.

lol those who are saying the rain doesn't count but it being warm or cold does...I understand. However you're still within my thread's question of "weather".

I'm in Miami, FL...It's one season all year around. My only weather concern has to do with rain. :D

I like how everyone has a winter carry. I'm a little jealous. -___-

Nice setups. All of you seem confident. I love it.

If your really that jealous lets switch places this winter. You can bundle up in New England and shovel a few feet of snow and i'll hit Miami beach :D

lol whoa whoa whoa...I should have kept in mind that I've never seen snow and that I'd probably hate it anyways. I'll pass,..I take that back. Thanks though!

mine changes with the weather and what im doing. If im going to be really active, sweaty, in shorts, etc ill carry a 32 or 38 in my pocket. If not then ill carry iwb, a p11 or g27.

My winter carry has nothing to do with snow per se, I am wearing more clothes which make it easier and more comfortable to carry a bigger gun. It's not the snow that bothers people here, it's the -40 temp and -65 wind chill.

The other clothing consideration for the cold is will my carry combo be effective on a guy wearing Carharts and 2 sweatshirts?

Smoking hot outside or wife wants multi hour shopping spree - Sig P290; Most anything else Sig P220; raining bears from the clouds Springfield XD 45 Tactical, upgraded to Rowland... :D

So for CCW...How does weather affect your EDC?

Here in N.C for attire we really have just two seasons Summer, brutally hot, and not summer when all you need is a light jacket most days. So for ccw I generally carry the same weapon.

Now if I had to be out in really bad weather with the potential of social unrest this can cause, I would opt for either my 5" M-27 or 4" 586, with 4 speed strips on my person and 50 rounds of ammo in the car.

I'm with Nanuk ... here in Texas, where it's hot a lot, I pocket carry in the summer when normal attire is shorts and a t-shirt (I'm retired :D) .. when it cools off and a cover garment is warranted when venturing outside, I holster carry, either my usual PM9 or a Kimber UCII ... if it ever rained here, sigh, that might impact my choice too, but I doubt it ...

I carry a S&W Model 60 (stainless J Frame) all year 'round. Even though Minnesota weather goes from one extreme to another the gun has been trouble free. I could easily carry a larger revolver when cover garments are in season but the j frame is so comfortable IWB that I almost forget it's there...

Season of the year affects what I carry. Three seasons out of the year its a CZ compact 9MM PCR or HK P7. In the hot summer months a Beretta M85FS .380, as its a bit easier to conceal with summer clothing like shorts and polo shirt.
