Weather affect which gun you carry? (CCW)

You wake up in the morning, look outside..And see a storm. You still gotta go about your day. I wonder what everyone else does for CCW. Not duty. Duty you have no choice and when it gets wet they're bigger things happening than worrying about that.

So for CCW...How does weather affect your EDC?

Me? Example...Woke up today, saw it stormy, removed my SIG P226 and put on the Glock 19.

Same goes when I carry 1911's.

I stay IWB.

Just a for fun thread..nothing serious. Curious

Ok...I see we have funny guys. lmao...

Alright...For those that weather CAN influence your carry. What do you do? IWB instead of OWB? This gun instead of that gun. etc...

lol Gosh...1,000 different things can affect daily routines. I'm talking weather here folks!

I figure when I wear out my carry gun I'll buy another one. Why aren't guns considered a disposable item like tires? Let's compare the numbers to the tires I priced yesterday.

1. I bought a like-new Rohrbaugh in early 2007 for nearly $900 and have carried it everyday since then. Almost 46 cents/day. :)

2. I bought a new Toyota Highlander in early January of 2010 and have all but completely worn out the factory (junk) tires in 27k miles. Four Goodyear Assurance CS 245/55/19 will be $927.14 out the door (after the $40 factory rebate).

The gun has been a much better deal. If I tossed it in the James River tomorrow, I would have gotten my money's worth out of it.

John

P.S. - Fwiw, so I'm not comparing apples and oranges, the Goodyears are $205 each, plus mounting, etc. The factory garbage Bridgestone Duelers that everybody hates would be $198 each from Tirerack, plus shipping, mounting, etc.

If you're familiar with Tirerack's surveys, you don't even need to see the categories to know that these numbers on the Duelers are miserable.

Surveyed Averages 54 56% 2.2 5.0 5.5 6.2 7.1 6.5 3.4 2.8 2.6 6.3 6.1 4.3

The only weather that changes my carry gun is summer or winter.

Summer it is the Glock 27/33 with the 23 mag and adapter to make it fit my mug and hold 14 shots of 357 Sig. Winter it is the Glock 31 with 15 rounds of 357 Sig. My BUG is my 640 Pro. My carry guns are tools.

Yep, summer carry is a pocket 380 or LCR. Cool weather is a CW9 OWB and occasionally FiveseveN OWB. Hard to conceal a FeveseveN with a T-shirt. I just cannot get comfortable carrying IWB for some reason.

Yes, there is a weather effect. If the weather is lousy and a coat is worn that will be keep closed up a S&W 642 in a pocket holster will go in to a coat pocket for ready access.

No. CZ 75 Compact cocked & locked everyday - hot or cold. Theis IWB hybrid.

Well...

Winter cold we can carry full guns inside the clothes. And we need a good penetration caliber to opponent dense clothes. Maybe a CZ75 could be a good choice. I´d prefer a 9mm in cold winter.

In hot summer, a small size pistol seems better to use with shirts, and a slow and heavy caliber could do the best job. I´d prefer a 45. Officer´s 1911.

This is my interface guns/weather...;)

Colder weather when a jacket can be worn I carry my 642 in the jacket pocket. Hot weather it goes IWB or I carry my LCP ip my pocket or IWB.

Change the gun I carry concealed because it's raining.....? No, weather doesn't effect my gun choice.

I've had my blued hunting rifles rained and snowed on and I've never had to do any thing other than wipe them down afterwards so I'm pretty sure my concealed gun can handle a little moisture in the air.

Cold weather does mean that I can conceal a larger gun easier so I do migrate to larger guns in the fall and winter.

Nope...

The only thing that affects what I carry is how much my back hurts on any given day...

Yep, getting old sucks...but it beats the alternative. ;)

Cooler weather means I usually carry a 1911. Warmer weather dictates a smaller gun due to how I dress.

Nope. 3" 1911 OWB every day of the year. Covered by either t-shirt, sweatshirt, or coat. Don't work anymore, so I don't really have to spend any time in the rain.

Nope. H&K P2000 in 40 S&W all day, every day. Also in a Theiss hybrid IWB holster.

Most weather, service or compact auto IWB, or sometimes OWB under a heavier shirt or jacket.

Really hot weather, subcompact auto IWB or IWB tuckable under a lighter shirt.

Really cold weather, service or compact auto IWB or OWB, and subcompact auto or J frame in outer coat pocket.
