Wal-Mart and SD ammo

Never even seen WWB in a Wally/made in China World up here. (Personally have only had one box of WWB, and it is still sitting on my ammo shelves.) Then again, there are only a few Wally Worlds in the entire state. They do sell ammo. I am also of the "Not a big Wally World fan" club.

I prefer to purchase ammo at the smaller "mom and pop" stores. (I like it when they know you by your face and name. Heck, they even give me a box of different ammo on occasion just to try it out!)

I reload for most of what I shoot, with the exception of the .22lr. And when buying boxes of the .22lr always end up in a discussion/story or two with the owners/employees/customers. And as an added bonus, I can still see the outside world through windows at the same time!

I wish there were "Mom & Pop" stores around here, but unfortunately there's Walmart or the internet unless you really want to drive or pay double at the range. (some, not all)

lol hoy!

Thats a pretty funny story! I wish they sold .45 HP here in colorado. I cant even get 9mm HP at my walmart anymore ether. I heard that they were going to start selling only hunting and target ammo anymore. Which is cool, because then we will still buy it for an ok price, and send the rest of our support to all the other places (internet dealers, mom and pop stores, Full out gun stores, and even places like "Sports Authority, and Cabelas.}

So, I can live with that, and still stock up and look for good deals and save all my (and others) Brass. Then one day I might actually get a little reload kit and start with just one cartridge, like a .38 special.

:)

I went to a Wallyworld in New Hampshire and bought the last boxes of 40S&W 155gr Silvertips at 14.95 a box of 50 and never looked back the guy said it was a closeout on them.

From other threads I've been reading 9mm of every flavor is just about sold out in most states and not only at Walmart. There have just been huge runs on all of the popular self defense calibers... 9mm, 40S&W, 45acp, .223/5.56, and to a lesser extent 7.62x39, but premium 9mm seems to be in especially short supply.

QUOTE:how about supporting your local mom & pop store...?

Why support the local gun shops for ammo and many other gun related items when their prices are outrageous.
Most gun shops here charge anywhere from $17 to $18 and some even higher for WWB, Walley World $13.50/$14.50 for 40 cal FMJ . I have stated in the past that when I go to Walley World and they have ammo, I buy as much as I can afford, after 1-20-09, I might be able to afford the ammo but not the tax.

There's nothing but blasting ammo and hunting ammo at my local Wal*Mart. I'm near a big city though, and that may have something to do with it.

+1 on that, my local shop is scary expensive. I go to Wally world for Plinking ammo, because my shop cannot even come close; even their factory reloads are $2 more than the new blazer brass (9mm). New blazer (alum) is $17.99 in 9mm at my nearest shop and it just goes up from there.

I'm sure they get the less knowledgeable people, but thats almost highway robbery.

Wow!

I don't even know where to begin here: Wal-mart is not the only source of Chinese or foreign made goods. All stores (Even local ones) have something that is not made here. Get off your high horse before you hurt yourself.

Check your house and see if you have anything made in China and throw it away. Then start with any other country and do the same. When your sitting in your now empty home with just your gun (if made in the US) and some ammo let me know.

You are just as much a sheep as the rest we are so don't even try to sound like you're above us all. I try to buy American as much as humanly possible. Does that mean I'm going to do without simply because I can't find an American made version? Uh no...

The Filthy Rich Elite? Who did you vote for? Most of the companies you buy stuff from are publicly owned corporations, If I invest in it and they sell products, their stock goes up and I make money. Then they pay dividends of the profits and I make more money. I'm not Filthy Rich, but I know how to make money, and I am working on becoming a member of the Filthy Rich Elite ;)

Anyway, getting off my high horse (i've hurt myself before)...

This was about Wal-mart and ammunition last time I checked...
This morning when I bought ammo from Wal-mart all of the ammo there was MADE IN THE USA: Winchester, Remington, Federal, Blazer Brass, CCI... ALL MADE IN THE USA.

My local gun shop had those as well (far more expensive), and they had Fiocchi, Magtech, Wolf, S&B, Silver Bear, Brown Bear, and others, some cheaper but, NOT MADE IN THE USA...

whew... had to get that out sorry.

Hey, you are right. How many foreign guns do you have, cars, TV's, Video players, IPODs.You are the reason we are in the financial position we are in today, you bought the cheaper foreign POS..... BUY AMERICAN. Throw those foreign and guns and ammo in the trash and buy S&W, American made.

I'll tell you why I use WalMart! I want ABSOLUTE MAXIMUM SUFFERING for my dollar!
When I spend a dollar at Walmart I KNOW that I'm helping to starve some kid in a third world crap hole to death! I KNOW that my dollar goes towards keeping the miserable bastard working 18 hours a day for $1.25/month & 1/2 bowl of rice a day in abject desperation!
& I feel I don't cause anywhere NEAR that amount of suffering when I spend a few bucks at the locally owned stores. It's not nearly as satisfying:p
It gives me warm fuzzies to know the kind of suffering I'm helping to perpetuate in these furrin countries. It's the American Way!

(may contain elements of irony & satire.;) )

If the Ammo, or any other product they sell for that matter, is made in the USA, even though you purchase it at Walmart, aren't you supporting US manufacturers? If you buy Wolf or S&B or PMC, isn't your money going overseas? To me it's a gray area. I try to patronize my local stores when possible, but sometimes Walmart is the only game in town.
