Wal-Mart and SD ammo

WallyWorld configures EVERYTHING to turnover. In my nearest one don't look for much in the hunting dept. including an employee. Go to one 20 mi from here and they have EVERYTHING plus one or two employees.

nobody has any .40 S&W around here at all now.

i bought the last 3 boxes of wwb fmj at 1 wally world, and 1 box of Remington jhp at another.

i found 4 boxes of hornady .40S&W 155gr jhp/xpt for $19.99, i bought all 4.

they shoot great BTW, recoil is so low, and they shoot flat.

Wal Mart Ammo

I bought all the .40 caliber my local store had on the shelf, one white box (100rds)of Winchester FMJ target, one box(250rds) of RemingtonUMC and a box (50 rds) of Winchester JHP. Thaye also had a small qty of 9MM, 8 boxes of shot shells and tons of 22 cal. Clerk indicated they are having a hard time getting ammo of any type.

In NW Las Vegas Walmart's sells 9mm, 40cal, .357mag, and 45apc in HP.

Some stores inventory very, but I mail order my SD ammo, as Walmart don't sell GDHP.

The few walmarts in my area sell WWB, and Remington in FMJ and JHP, but I wouldn't use either ones JHP for self defense. I'll stick with the Gold Dots.:)

Here they carry the Remington/UMC and Winchester White Box JHPs. Not much variety. Not as good as Gold Dots or other premium SD ammo, but perfectly serviceable.

how about supporting your local mom & pop store...?
Just for the record, I do not buy ammo at Wal-Mart (nor much of anything for that matter, I was just there because it is the only place in the PDX area where you can buy Dale's sauce). I buy my ammo from my dealer. I just looked out of curiosity since I knew all the local stores were low on ammo and noticed they did not stock defensive ammo. :)

Walmart here has no guns or ammo. I don't go in there ever. Not cause it's the devil, just cause it's a dump. I change my own oil.

For some things I will. For other things I will go elsewhere. In most communities, the mom and pop stores were dead before Wal-Mart ever set up shop.

I was using the Remington UMC JHP in 9mm from walmart a while ago. And I can't say enough good things about them. They were not very expensive, vs other serious self defense brands. They shot more accurately out of my S&W Sigma SW9VE than the Winchester White Box. Infact, I was getting clover leafs at 15 yards with them, and keeping quarter sized groups with a full 16 round mag at 15 yards when I really took my time. Not only that, but I was shooting a rotten stump with them, and every single bullet that I recovered had expanded into a perfect mushroom. I think they would be GREAT self defense rounds, especially if you like to practice with what you carry.

On the down side, I cant find them at walmart anymore, I've looked every time I go for the past 6 months or more, and I think they just dont carry them here anymore. Maybe I can ask if they can order them for me :D

I have 3 Walmarts within a 15 mile radius of me. Two of them are closer to Indianapolis, and in better class neighborhoods. These 2 only sell WWB and once in a while you'll see the Remington 250 boxes.

The third, otoh, usually carries WWB, Blazer Brass, and Remington. But it's farther N of Indy in Anderson.

My Wal-Mart (in North-Eastern Iowa) has never sold any SD ammo since I have been buying there, and basically only has WWB and a few other brands. They have been out of any kind of .45 ACP for a while now which kind of worries me. Bring on the shortages!

The only HP's I've seen at any of the Wal-Marts here is the Winchester 230gr .45ACP. Heck, we have one local Walmart that doesn't sell 9mm at all and when asked why, the manager said because the 9mm is too powerfull and used to kill people.....but they carry .40S&W and .45ACP, I just don't understand some people.
