US Army is recruiting more felons!

With so many things classified as felonies today (try growing your own tobacco and selling cigarettes made from it across state lines- you'll do more time than if you raped a child!) it does not suprise me in the least.

I have read that during WWII 100,000 convicted felons were released from prison and inducted into the military with the promise that if they honorably completed their term of service, they would be pardoned -- assumuing they survived. A disproportionate number of these men wound up in combat units.

For you historians out there were there ever any follow-up studies on how these men fared?
