Unsafe and discontinued Taurus 809/840 still being sold

You would be correct the grip is quite ample on it's own, I think it could have been cut down about 1/3 of a inch and still be good.

Also the mag has this large base plate with a swoop on it.. I guess it's for your pinky but my pinky comes no where near the mag base plate.
Im planing on cutting those flat..

I have a feeling I can adapt 92 mags.. will requite some investigation but they look very similar.. I hope that's the case anyway.

EDIT: Im sitting here trying to figure out how to take the mag apart so I can see if I can trim that pinky shelf on the mag.. Feeling stupid, gonna have to research it.

And then it hit me.. handling the gun.
There actually IS a use for the long grip.. it's kinda genius.. it looks stupid but the mag plate having that swoop forward is for your supporting hand.
if you get a 2handed grip on it you can feel the bottom of your support hand lock into it.. remember your shooting hand is 1 finger higher cause it's in the trigger guard.

I actually am really digging it but it does mean the grip is really longer then usual.. but I guess there IS a method to madness.

Shame on Tauras and gun sites for selling them.

Remember how the gun distribution system is set up in the United States. Manufacturers cannot sell directly to the customer, so they must sell their product to distributors. Once the product passes from the manufacturer to the distributor, the manufacturer no longer has control over the product. It cannot demand the distributor return the product even if defective.

So, you need to place shame where it properly belongs; on the distributors that would rather sell you the gun at a discount off retail than sell it back to the manufacturer at wholesale.

Of course gun manufacturers can sell directly to the customer, as long as the customer is a licensed dealer. They don't have to sell through distributors.

Have a brother that owns 2. A PT809 and a PT809C. He likes and shoots both. I kind of like the C myself but I already have a PT92C and love shooting it. It goes to the range with me every time.
