Unsafe and discontinued Taurus 809/840 still being sold

Any luck finding those reports OP? Still waiting on price before I buy but if you got anything I'd like to see it before I end up with them.

I have been doing some of my own searching as I considered the 809 before purchasing my SAR K2P. I haven't found any reports of unexpected disharges. RK guns has sent me a couple emails now for a special on the 809 @ $224+change.

Well, I couldn't find it again. At this point I admit defeat and take the credibility hit.

At every least it let people know it was now discontinued, but again, I might be completely wrong

Wild Cat, I did see that the taurus 609 was part of the original recall, maybe that threw you off. The 609 is similar in appearance both physically and in model #.

Wildcat im wondering if this maybe what you seen thinking the 800's wasn't drop safe?

The guns discharge a lot like the p320 is but way worse.
The last gun looks like a 800 but it's not.. it's a 24/7.. the 800 is based on the 24/7 but the 24/7 was striker fired the 800's are hammer fired.

also you're not wrong about the discontinued status.

Actually Might be wrong here, It looks like the 800 series might be undergoing a cosmetic restyling.

Posted back in June on Taurus board.
http://www.taurusarmed.net/forums/p...09-new-styling-barrel-length-see-picture.html

Looks like there is a new model (maybe) 809E with new styling.
Also either it's a transition from the 800 to the replacement to the T series, or something but there is a really TOUGH ass looking 809 on there with angled off slide.. Reminds me of Sig styling.. Damn cool looking.

Someone also posted a picture of a 809c with sig style slide.
The 809c's was discontinued about a year ago so maybe the whole line is just under going cosmetics.. but I don't know they yanked'em from the 2017 pdf catalog if that's the case.

Have to wait and see.

Actually It's my understanding there will be 2 lines, TS, and TH

TS = striker
TH = hammer

Guns will be similar but with different triggers and actions.

Look in the thread I posted they have a picture of T9S and T9H

Im just calling them the T series till I see different from Taurus.

P.S you look at that youtube video I posted?

As far as I'm aware, there has never been a problem with the 800 series. The 24/7 and 1st gen Millenium, yes, but not with the hammer fired 800's. I have a new 809 and I bought a 809C a few months ago. Seem to be problem free.

ssshhhh Im hoping no one buys these things so the price keeps dropping :D

BTW I believe they charge 3% CC fee's so just a heads up.. you can send a check/mo to get it at the listed cash price though.

Don't forget the added FFL fee for online gun purchases. My LGS charges $35 for a transfer. The fees vary from place to place, but often counter the bargains found online.

Well Ended up picking up a pair at kygunco

I was perfectly willing to wait out the pricing on them but I bought something else thats gonna be coming to my FFL and it's cheaper to transfer multiple guns so I couldn't wait anymore it would have cost me more in the long run.

Im paying with a money order sent snail mail.
I hope they don't screw me like Buds did one time when they was "out of stock" once my payment arrived even though it was suppose to be secured via a CC#

I'll be the (hopefully) proud owner of a pair in a week or so.

I went with black/black.
It's what kygunco had on sale.

If I had my choice I would have went with the stainless/black
but they discontinued the stainless slide a year or two prior I think.

The black slide / grey frame model looks pretty nifty too.
I would not have been disappointed if that was what was on sale.

Im not a fan of FDE but for the right price I could have over looked it.
Im very "flexible" when we get down to these prices :p

Got the 809's in today, Gonna do a new thread and talk about them along with 2 other guns I picked up today.. but here's a pick of them.

As per the topic of the thread.
I don't know about if the hammer is cocked but I see no way of these firing when dropped... unless maybe muzzle down and the firing pin has enough mass to set off a round.

The DA on these guns is HEAVY.. I mean to the point that Im gonna be looking at swapping out the hammer spring or something.. SA is nice however.
