Turning guns into billboards turns me off

i can't for the life of me why they go and ruin a great firearm by etching tactical on the side. It's no better than the regular model, doesn't shoot any faster or even help in the aiming dept.Oh i know it's so you can pay more.

I had a friend of mine that would buy a new car but refuse to leave without removing the dealership logo.He would tell them that he was not going to pay the dealership and then advertise for free.

All in all you carry their billboard and yet you pay them to do it.:cool:
Don't the guys who shoot for S&W,Glock or even Sig get paid to wear the logo of the company they represent.

I want some compensation:D

I agree. I especially hate the warnings etched in the gun. "Read Safety Manual." No kidding!? Who would have thought of that on their own? QUOTE]

It's not a gun issue.

We've been a lawyer driven society for a while now. Silly warnings are on virtually every thing.

Logo on products aren't new either. What do you expect in a society where we pay money for the honor of advertising someone elses product on a hat or T-shirt.

No disagreement that we could do without it.

I don't mind the markings on the slide of my S&W. This is the one I think's really ugly on it....I'm considering having the frame redone just to cover it up.

Could care less how much crap they etch or roll or engrave on the piece. As long as it works and fills my needs. If I were concerned about aesthetics I'd have committed suicide the first time I looked in a mirror. :D

My Wife's Para PDA .45 has "Made in Canada" in little dots...like it was done by a 3 year-old kid with a nail and a rock... :D

I agree. I absolutely HATE it when companies do this to an otherwise attractive gun.
I was gonna pick up a taurus tracker the other day, but couldn't get past the big TRACKER etched on the barrel. Fugly.

I tend to stick to black on black or silver on silver if I can.

With the AT4, though, I can kind of understand. I would rather have it there for the guys who can't figure out which is the business end (especially if I'm behind him). I think a pistol is pretty self explanatory, and hope it never comes to written instructions directly on the gun (although it's getting worse).

Um, yeah. Especially the warnings with the laser grips advising that the laser, yes, the one attached to the side of a gun, could be dangerous. Not the gun mind you, but the laser.
I don't know. If I'm at the wrong end of Crimson Trace laser grips am I really all that concerned about my eyes at that moment?

I've heard of people who have successfully removed the gay safety warning on the frame of these smiths

I'd like to remove mine at some point because I've already read it more than once and don't need it.

Any ideas on how to remove this from a SS model? I would rather leave it than have a shiny spot on the frame afterward.

Thoughts?

I didn't think anyone really put those stickers on their handguns when they put the laser grips on (I know I never do) till I noticed one of the guys at my work has the sticker on his Glock 22 with the laser grips. Are we really suppossed to attach them?

It looks like it's just painted on. If you look at the bottom of the D on "REMOVED" you can see where I scratched the frame itself seeing if I could just scratch the warning off. :o

I don't worry to much about the aesthetics, I guess. I like ugly, functional guns. I like my Rugers. I don't care for fancy engraving and glossy wood though. I have other things to be concerned with!

My gun just screams "MILLENNIUM."

When I looked at it prior to purchase, it almost completely turned me away. I got over it once I handled it in person. Every once in awhile I look at the side of my slide and sigh.

So? Instead of whining about it...buff it out.

For crying out loud...a weapon is a tool. If you want to create a piece of art, have at it.

Maybe looking at it the differently

On all of mine, when I focus on the front sight I don't see any of the "NASCAR advertising". Maybe shifting focus to more time on the front sight? I know that I tend to enjoy that view the best on all of my firearms!

And if that fails, perhaps adding your own favorite stickers and decals! Maybe even get some local companies to pay you money to sport some of their stickers! Heck, they make rifles and hand guns with pink stocks and grips, why not add a little personalized, or product promotional, flair?

"Yes Bob, I did defend my self from this vicious attack today with my (insert favorite/whomever paid me the most to place this stupid sticker on the side of my firearm here) approved and endorsed gun. And it did just dandy!"

But then we could see lawsuits lining up to sue not only those who are named on the stickers, but those poor "evil-devils" who actually made the stickers, and then the delivery companies that not only brought the materials to the sticker company to make said accursed stickers but then delivered the finished product! And don't forget those who produced the raw materials to be delivered!

Reminds me of: "For want of a nail..." thinking.

Short version: I don't care for being able to entertain myself while waiting in lines by being able to read a short story on the side of my guns.

Right, they are only tools. Every gun everyone owns is bought and used for one purpose...and that is why no one ever owns more than one of any specific kind. :)

So is a car. But I wouldn't want their advertising logo engraved all over the hood and doors of my new car, either...
