Tracking Point $22,000.00 rifle you cant miss with!

They are actually $22,500.00 and I can't lie if I was filthy rich I would have one. I heard that they have merged with Remington and they want to get the price down to $5000.00.

As soon as they come down to $5,000.00 I'll still pass. If I was at war or had more money than sense sure would be nice. But where's the challenge. If we go to war I'll just use my .22 LR to shoot the guy with one and take his. :D  ;)

I for one have a hard time believing their claims. My cell doesn't work half the time. I have not heard that the military are interested. If it worked seems they would be all over it.

ISniper, new .338Lapua.....

This high tech bolt action reminds me of some of the plot elements in author Steven Hunter's; I, Sniper.

The Tracking Point rifle is super cool. I'd want it in the .338Lapua caliber.
I'm also left handed so I guess I'd need a custom rifle for a few grand more,.

The rifle is marketed for high end safari & big game hunters but the specs/features make it scary for any homeland security or EP agents.

Pretty soon these Texas guys will add this Tracking Point rifle to a drone.
Yikes....

The millitary is the reason they built it! Darpa's been working on two differant rifles like this. And yes they do comp for wind. Darpa's are laser guided. The bullet follows the lazer so the wind has little effect.

Let's say the rifle does everything its manufacturer claims. What have you then? And what part do you play in the equation? Well, you're basically just a game collection robot pulling a trigger and letting a mechanical device handle all the marksmanship on your behalf. I don't think I'd want that for free, let alone paying $22k for the privilege of being an automaton.

I haven't gotten a real life demo, but I have gotten to shoot the virtual demo (with the real gun) at the NRA convention. Is it worth the price tag? No way.

The shooter still has to determine the windage and input it into the ballistic calculator. And when you are shooting out to (and past) 1,000 yards there is typically more than one wind that you are dealing with.

this system is beyond amazing and after the video i was jaw dropped. regardless of how much it cost, its out of this world.

The main down fall of the system is the shooter still has to estimate the wind.
You could have a million dollars worth of technology in a rifle but if the shooter still cant accurately estimate the wind it'll be of no use what so ever.

Some may find it a bit disconcerting that it may not actually fire when the trigger is squeezed, but waits until the gun is back "on track". I think it would take some getting used to.
