Toysrus boycotting NRA

Here's my $.02

I read with dismay in the N Y Post that your organization is protesting the opening of the National Rifle Association's Restaurant in Times Square. I am a member of the NRA and I am thoroughly disgusted by insinuations that my organization promotes gun violence. This type of Bigotry is exactly what this country does not need. Your insinuations that NRA members are somehow promoting violence is absolutely untrue.

I will no longer purchase from your organization and will not permit my family members to do so. I will encourage everyone I know to follow my lead.

Your type of Bigotry, and that is exactly what it is, has no place in a modern free society.

Geoff Ross

Ok so it is not as elegant as some of yours, back in Catlick school I would have received a D for composition. But we all have to start writing before it is too late.

Dear Mr. or Ms,

It has come to my attention, after reading a news article found at - http://www.nypostonline.com/business/6190.htm - that ToysRUs is boycotting in an effort to stop a legitamate business from opening on Times Square. The NRA is, which was around LONG before ToysRUs, is a well respected organization which works for the freedom of every American. Unfortunately, to achieve it's goals, the present administration has chosen to villanize the NRA. If one would look at the facts, they would see that the NRA has spent more than 20 million dollars in firearms safety in just the last 4 years. Now why would anyone, including you, be opposed to such an organization or its goals?

The NRA has NEVER encouraged or supported violence of any kind. Yet your stores carry all manner of vidio games that attempt to glamorize violence and make it 'fun'. You carry many vidio games I will NEVER allow my children to play.

Because of your hypocritical views, your attempt to squelsh free trade by stopping the NRA from opening on Times Square, and your disregard for the 2nd Amendment, I will be boycotting YOU. Until ToysRUs shows it supports the 2nd Amendment, I will not purchase another thing from your stores.

If you think that a boycott by people who support the U.S. Constitution won't make a difference to your sales, I suggest you look at K-Mart's financial woes this year.

Sincerely,
Radonna Doan

THANKS GUYS!!!!
I have a daughter who is almost two now. Like all little girls, she loves to look at toys. We have a Toys R Us in my area, and I have spent a bundle in there. NO MORE! I will email them, and I will post a notice in our gunshop to warn all the other parents to stay away from that place. I boycott a whole "raft" of companies that are owned and ran by idiots. I'll just add these Jerks to the SH__LIST. It keeps going, and going and....

Great response guys. Let GUNGRABBERS-R-US have it. I hope for sensop and Jeff Thomas that John/az2 posting that article suffices as proof of me putting up a creditable post on Toysrus. Thanks John/az2!! When gun owners take away their business and it makes them change their policy. Look at Citibank, S&W, etc. Tell all the ladies in your life not to shop there too.

I responded to the challenge posed by TRU.
I sent the response before I copied it, so I can't drop the dupe here.

I also informed them that there were several children that we buy for regularly, and that their competitors will be seeing our consumer dollars from here on, until such time as they publically rescinded their associations.

We we're posed to buy nearly $1200 in gifts/playground equipt/games for the kids, and such. They just lost all of that, from one person, one day. And when we do make the purchases, I'll, making copies of the receipts and sending them proof of my convictions. They will understand that dollars, not political agenda's, make business.

Best Regards,
Don

Crap like this is precicely why "gunowner dollars" are a good idea.

Keep up the heat, spread the word.

And while you're at it, why don't you go ahead and snail-mail your "representatives" at local, state, and federal levels about RKBA in general?

Thank you all for responding so far. You are real Americans.

Am I the only one who got that response back or is it another form letter in disguise? I think I emailed them pretty early into this, before they really got hit, but I had already gotten my "thank you for expressing your opinion" mail before I got this one.

No, you weren't the only one who got back the canned kickout program for you're email response. I went back to their site, and requested a representative contact me in person. I want to dump an earful on them.

I already have a pile of facts for them to ponder.

This reply just did come in ...

Doesn't this give you a warm-fuzzy?

Keep up the pressure by posting the news of TRU's bigotry to other gunnie sites on the web.

Just came in from gardening and checked my email and had the same exact letter myself, Blue. That makes a total of three responses from them since yesterday. Maybe I'm optimistic in this case, but I'd like to think they are concerned. Usually, I get either one "canned" response or dead silence from companies.

I like the idea of sending in receipts for stuff you bought from other places, Bluesman. Think I'll start doing that to Levis. :)

My effort:

To Whom it May Concern;

I am writing in reference to an article in the NY Post's on-line edition (http://www.nypostonline.com/business/6190.htm). As the father of four children aged 3 1/2 months to 7 1/2 years, I hope that you will reply to this an correct what must obviously be an egregious error in reporting.

Certainly a retailer which markets violent video games to children could not possibly object to being located near an NRA theme-restaurant that will include video shooting arcades. That would be pure hypocrisy, and I feel quite certain that the stock holders of your company simply would not tolerate that sort of activity from the C.E.O. and other officers of the company. How can this dichotomy possibly exist? If I am reading this report correctly, then it is the position of Toys R Us that it is perfectly legitimate for your company to profit from the sales of violent video games to the children of this nation, but the NRA is pure evil for wanting to instill in our children a sense of safety and responsibility about firearms from a young age. Does that seem at all logical to you?

As of this moment, I am no longer a customer of yours. There are other retailers who carry similar products at similar prices. If I have to drive past one of your stores to get there, so much the better. I will derive a sense of satisfaction from it.

Please contact me at your earliest convenience once this matter is rectified so that I may resume shopping at your stores.

Here's my email just submitted:

Gentlemen:

I would just like to add my voice to the growing chorus of law-abiding gun owners who are outraged at TRU's blatant hypocrisy regarding its opposition to the NRA opening a theme restaurant in Times Square. Given the violent video games you folks hawk to youngsters of all ages, your latest move is right up there with Rosie getting an armed body guard!
I have spent literally thousands of dollars in your establishments over the years, but no more! Your competitors will see my money from now on until and unless your corporate policy no longer reflects a trampling of my and my fellow citizens' civil rights under the Constitution of the United States.

I have two sons and two dozen nieces and
nephews. Informed Toys'R'Us we would no
longer be shopping there until they changed
their policy. Also told them I knew hundreds
of law-abiding firearms owners who I would
encourage to boycott Toys'R'Us.

Got the same canned respone BlueyeDog got. From the same person(or computer).

I did request a personal contact, so I guess that's their response...

Like I said, I'm taking receipts from their competitors, and mailing proof to them.

It's an easy thing to do.

Best Regards,
Don

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

You mean that, from now on, Toys R Us will no longer sell real guns in their stores and will no longer donate to the NRA?

What a change!
