Toysrus is protesting the NRA and its desire to put in its theme resturant in NY. PLEASE go to their website and email them about this and that you will boycott their business. Their webpage is TOYSRUS.COM. Go to the contact us part at the bottom of the page.

CORB52, maybe I'm a little slow on this, but why do you believe that Toys R Us is protesting this restaurant? Any verification of this online (I noted nothing on their web site)?

Thanks. Regards from AZ

Yes, before we deluge them with email protest, for what good it will do, we need to be able to make specific reference to their action.

I saw it on either Newmax.com or Worldnetdaily yesterday. I cant remember which one and its driving me crazy now. I saw it and rushed to post in on here. I did a search for yestedays articles but cant find it. I do know that it was a reputable source and I will email the GOA to see if they can confirm it. It is legit.

Call me crazy (cause I am) But isn't WorldNetDaily basicly an online National Enquirer. It seems that a lot of the stuff I see there(though not all) is just extreme takes on the news and twising of the stories.

Here you go.

By PAUL THARP

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Politicians are rallying around Toys "R" Us and luxury purveyor LVMH for taking a stand against the National Rifle Association in a Times Square showdown over a shooting gallery there.
The two companies are refusing to sign leases in the glitzy new "Bow Tie" building if the NRA also moves in with its gun-themed showcase.

After The Post broke the story of their standoff yesterday, Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) and two Congress members, Rep. Nita Lowey (D-Westchester) and Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-Manhattan), hailed the firms' "principled stand."

"You are doing the right thing," the politicians said in a joint letter to the heads of the two giant retailers. "We believe there is no place in the new Times Square for the NRA."

Sources have told The Post that Toys "R" Us and LVMH are refusing to sign leases in 1530 Broadway unless they get assurances from the NRA and its president, actor Charlton Heston, that the NRA won't build a theme restaurant and shooting gallery there.

Toys "R" Us plans to take 45,000 square feet of space, and LVMH plans about half that amount for one of its Sephora cosmetics supermarkets. The NRA has been considering 70,000 square feet for an NRA Sports Blast eatery-entertainment center.

The politicians' letter added: "If the NRA opens in Times Square, they will be sending an unmistakably dangerous message to visitors that guns are a cause for celebration."

Kevin, I suppose it depends on what you are used to hearing. After listening to so many years of network media news, and then reading something like WorldNetDaily, it may seem like tabloid stuff. Go shopping when it comes to news...

They are protesting the restraunt. I had just finished sending them an email when I came in here and saw the topic. They need to hear from everyone.

I suggested that rather than attacking a business that encourages families to spend time together in a form of traditional recreation, they may want to consider why they sell video games. Obviously, when you are shot, you don't get three alternative lives to try again. Video games actually discourage conversation with your family, because there is no human interaction. And children (I believe) get numb to violence.

I don't mean that the games should be censored. But when you claim to be concerned about children, maybe you need to look at what you are doing, rather than what someone (or some other business) is doing.

Anyways, I doubt I'll hear more from them than the form email I already got. But Mrs. Claus won't be shopping at ToyRUs this year.

I just fired off an e-mail. I told them how many lawful gunowners there are in America and that Toy's r us should consider themselves boycotted.

I heard this from www.keepandbeararms.com

And sent the following:

To: customer.service@webmail.toysrus.com

With the approach of my daughter's birth I find that ToysRus has decided
to protest the NRA's theme restaurant in Times Square.

To protest TRU's bigotry, I have instructed my friends and family that no gifts from TRU will be accepted after her birth or for any subsequent occasions such as birthdays or Christmas. There are other places in
which to shop.

I have also instructed my loved ones to make donations to the National Rifle Association, Gun Owners of America and Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership

When Toys-R-Us stops practicing censorship, I may instruct others to reconsider my request.

Sincerely,

Agreed.

I am going to be buying some baseball gear this afternoon. I think I'll save the receipt and send it along with my letter letting them know that they're hereby boycotted.

Thanks for posting this.

Here it is:

Dear Toys-R-Us:

Since Toys-R-Us has demonstrated an anti-freedom, anti-safety, pro-violence stance by opposing the National Rifle Association (which is pro-freedom, pro-safety, and anti-violence, so to oppose them must mean TRU supports the opposite values), I will be participating in the 100% boycott of ToysRUs until it publicly repudiates its anti-freedom comments and actions. Thank you for your time and consideration of this matter.

To Whom It May Concern:

I was very surprised and angered to read that Toys R Us has decided to protest the NRA's proposed theme restaurant in New York City-a restaurant aimed at promoting family shooting sports and safe firearms use. I was surprised because, contrary to the NRA's mission, it is quite clear to me that Toys R Us has been promoting violence and use of weapons for destruction among children for years through the sale of video games and action figures. Just a quick sampling of the products available on your website shows the following descriptions and age recommendations:

·Deer Avenger 2:
"At the local grill unleash your fury on the boozy, bleary-eyed humanity inside! Then off to Telannoy Telemarketing to discover more laughable losers. Don't worry if you're a bad shot, this game has a top secret weapon which eradicates enemies immediately!" Age: Teen

·SWAT:
"With the game's multiple scenarios and career-advancing missions, you can play as either officers or terrorists as you either keep the peace or wreak havoc on the streets of L.A." Age: Teen

·ECW Hardcore Revolution:
"This is the most extreme, savage, brutal, fierce, wicked, hardcore, illmatic wrestling video game ever made! Including a create-your own wrestler mode and the nasty, brutish weapons that make this sport so much fun!" Age: Teen

·Army Men 3D:
"Shoot machine guns, launch mortars, plant mines, throw grenades, fire bazookas, and then finish the enemy off with the flamethrower". Age: Teen

·Mortal Kombat Trilogy:
"New Brutalities let you pound opponents 'til they explode! 7 humiliating Age Fatalities that send defeated opponenets plummeting out of the arena to a grizzly death!" Age: 17 & up

·Urban Chaos:
"Speak softly and carry a big shotgun!" Age: 17 & up

·3D Hunting:
"Head out into the wilderness and go after the big game without leaving your home! Dressed in appropriate camouflage, creep into one of four ultra-realistic hunting environments and search for signs of game." Age: Teen

·Battle Stations:
"Open fire on a friend or the computer in an all-out fight to the death." Age: Kids to adults

·Action figures: Arsenal of Doom Spawn:
"A reluctant assassin who must kill without doubt and act without remorse. This special edition Arsenal of Doom Spawn poseable action figure features an array of outrageous hand-held weapons." Age: 5 & up

The hypocrisy that so many anti-rights groups (and I now must include your company among these groups) continually demonstrate is appalling. There is no doubt in my mind that companies such as Toys R Us will encourage violence and destruction with weapons so long as it increases the corporate bottom line. And when it serves you politically to speak out against organizations such as the NRA that represent millions of law-abiding gun owners, you will take advantage of that as well.

I find your Vision Statement, "To put joy in kids' hearts and a smile on parents' faces," terribly ironic given your hypocritical stance on this issue. I highly encourage you to rethink your position. In the meantime, I and my kids will be shopping elsewhere.

Sincerely,

Dear Toys-R-Us:

I have just read that your corporation has decided to not lease space in
the Times Square "Bow Tie" building if the NRA builds its theme
restaurant there. As an NRA member, and one of 80 million Americans
who participate in the shooting sports, I am deeply saddened by this
move. The NRA in no way condones or promotes gun violence. We have
fought for years for tougher prosecution of criminals who misuse guns.

If Toys-R-Us is concerned about a theme restaurant that features virtual
trap-shooting video games, perhaps your company might also consider
boycotting the video arcades that have as their main features such games
as Doom. Or is Toys-R-Us not concerned about games in which people
are blown to bits in bloody, gory near-reality?

Mine is a large family, and my forty nieces, nephews, great-nieces and
great-nephews will not be receiving any presents from Toys-R-Us until
your company changes its position on the NRA theme Restaurant.

Yours truly,
Richard

Great post GnL,
I was thinking of goin' down to the local TRU to catalog the list of violent video games they sell to kids and then writing a letter much like yours. If there is one thing that burns me up about the gun-grabbers it's how they first hide behind the First Amendment to promote violent games (which teach kids that its OK to shoot people for no reason) then they denounce the RKBA when mindless violence happens in real life in imitation of the foresaid games. Grrr...

Here is my snail mail letter. Please excus the fact that I copied a few sentences from previous posts, but they were very well written. - Elker_43

To Whom It May Concern:
After reading recently that you have jumped on the anti-gun, anti-constitution bandwagon by opposing the National Rifle Association (which is pro-freedom, pro-safety, and anti-violence, so to oppose them must mean Toys Are Us supports the opposite values), I and my family will never do business again within your business doors. This includes your internet site. I will also be spreading the word among all that I know that you have decided to move into the realm of socialistic behavior and do not deserve the business afforded those who are patriotic businesses and understand the meaning of America and the Constitution.

Shame on you for hiding behind the First Amendment to promote violent games (which teach kids that its OK to shoot people for no reason) then to denounce the Right to Keep and Bear Arms when mindless violence happens in real life in imitation of the aforesaid games. You and your efforts are not what we need in this country.
Sincerely,

Just got back this response from ToysRUs:

"Thank you for contacting Toysrus.com.

We appreciate your letter and thank you for writing to us here at
Toysrus.com. Would you mind writing back and informing me as to where
or how you received this information. We would greatly appreciate your
response. Thank you in advance.

Please feel free to contact us with any further questions at www.toysrus.com.

Maybe they're concerned??

Ok, one more question. Who is LVMH and what the heck is a luxury purveyor? I'd write them, too, but somehow I doubt they would be concerned about the loss of my business. :)
