To Conservative TFL members: Will you vote if Ron Paul is not nominated?

Doug, It doesn't matter if I believe him or not. If the choice is Rudy vs. Hillary or Obama I have nothing to lose (in regards to gun control). If Rudy is true to his word I win if not I am in the same boat as if I had elected Hillary or Obama.

Now does it matter to you that your tax burden is going to be increased by Hillary or Obama?

How about national security Rudy will surely be tougher than the others mentioned above.

I'm going to support Fred Thompson. I will however vote for any of the candidates other than Hillary, Obama, Edwards, Gore, or Kerry. Even Ron Paul with his foot in mouth disease LOL.

Rudy says he is OK with 2nd amendment rights but at the same time if I am not mistaken,Wasn't he the one who first started trying to sue the gun manufactures ? And I don't believe for a second that he wouldn't push the assault weapons ban and sign it if it passed. But your right I think about him being better than any Dem that will run. I still have hopes that Ron Paul can turn things around and will vote for him if he does. But if Paul runs as a third party I would have reservations because the last time when Perot ran he became the spoiler and Clinton won and we can't have that now can we. As much as I don't like the lesser of evil thing I like the thought of Clinton or Obama even less.

One of the major differences between a conservative and a liberal IMO is that a liberal will vote party line no matter what. Their candidate could lie, cheat, and steal yet they will still support them. Conservatives on the other hand tend to punish those candidates who don't do what they say or don't completely align with their beliefs. Just look at the last election. The Dems didn't win because they were more popular they won because the Republican constituancy decided to send the party a message, that they weren't conservative enough.

I hate painting with a broad brush...especially since most all politicians are corrupt....like most people in general...but they have more power to do big evil
However....I have noticed that conservatives are more likely to step down when they get caught

Or maybe its that they werent competant enough. :)

The ultras on both sides control the primaries, but the folks they love, to wit loonies like Kucinich and Paul are unelectable, and its the vast numbers of moderate voters on both sides that control elections.

And normal folks dont want Pauls, Kuciniches, Deans, Buchanens and their ilk running the country.

Vote

I will vote as it is an Americans responsibility to determine the course of
the country.
It is not a forgone conclusion that those currently in the race will be the candidates.
If one is dissatisfied with the 10 Republicans or 8 Democrats currently declared. Create a grassroots organization to support the candidate of your choice.

participate and organize a groundswell movement to influence current candidates. Join Action committees. Write letters and Emails, author editiorials for local newspapers and blogs.
Join the party of choice headquarters in your area to affect local and state politics which are the machinery for national campaigns.

Like all else in life reap what you sow.

I think we should all vote DEM. Give them the power they want and they will be exposed rather quickly as the party of all complaint and no plan. They really don't have a plan other than slamming the President.

Look at the mess they've made of their Congressional agenda since they got the power.

Sigh.. of course they do. But a) it isn't played on fox news and b) tends to not fit into a 2 second simpleton sound bite so perhaps you've missed these plans.

Go back to the first 100 hours and tell me Nancy Pelosi didn't push through the 6 bills she said she would. For good or bad, it was keeping a good agenda. Of course, they do have 6 years of oversight to go through, you know, their job.

And, back on topic: I feel the same way I do about Paul as I did about Dean... Someone that has convictions and isn't afraid of saying them. Maybe you didn't like howard Dean's politics, but you have to like the fact that you knew where he stood on every position.. it wasn't some kind of moving target like you see with the major candidates on both sides now.

Sec Def, She push 6 bill into the senate. Never allowed the bills to be negotiated so they will all be re worked or trashed. She did nothing spectacular except show off their new found power. How about telling everyone about her trip to Syria...our enemy.

How about telling everyone about her trip to Syria...our enemy.

She wasn't negotiating.. so what?

Go back and look at how many americans went to Syria during the two month period (1 month before and 1 month after her).

Then look up trips that Newt and Haster took, and how they would tell leaders of countries to IGNORE the american president. Pelosi did no such thing.

Enemies? That part isn't even accurate.

Wasn't Pelosi's trip to Syria basically a meet and greet / photo op? I mean, she was touring out in public, and to me that says Syria is saying "See? This is us, and what we're all about."

I swear, you people complain when people can be civil with each other...

Will you even vote if Ron Paul doesn't get the nomination?

Well, since he's not a conservative, sure. He's a libertarian. Hijacking the simple meaning of "conservative" is a shell game.

Or will you settle for business as usual by voting for John McCain or Rudy Guliani?

If I have to. It's too early to tell who the candidates will be. As long as the Democrats are lead by the far left, I will do what I have to to keep them out of office along with their choices for the Supreme Court. Of course, I would hope that opposition would be substantially different, i.e. better, but the WH is not my highest priority. I am always more concerned about Congress, especially the Senate.

There are some I simply will not vote for: Guliani, McCain, Romney, any Democrat and danged few Republicans. I would vote for Paul if he's on the ballot, possibly Thompson too and maybe a couple of others trying to get the Republican nomonation but I'd prefer Paul.
There is no way in hell I'll vote for the lesser of two evils again. If all choices are evil I'll leave that space blank or write in Ron Paul's name. Through the past thirteen presidential elections I've had to vote for the devil in one form or another every time and look what it's gotten me. I may be a slow learner but I do learn. :barf:

I could care less about ron paul , so yes i will vote . I dont see any chance of a canadate that i can fully support , so onece again i will vote the lessor of the evils , but none the less will vote .

Since Fred Thompson is biding his time to join the fray, is there any possibility he could choose to refrain from seeking the Republican candidacy and shoot for a 3rd Party position? With his popularity, he could take it away from the big TWO. Especially in view of the "projected" winners!

Fred Thompson is popular...but for the same reasons that so many here like him as a possible candidate he is highly unlikely to siphon many votes from any theoretical Democratic candidate. He'd likely take votes almost exclusively from Republicans, and end up ensuring a Democratic victory. [EDIT: Assuming there wasn't a similarly/more popular "foil" to the Democrat.]

At least, that's what this two-bit wannabe political analyst thinks. :D
