time to come clean

"Easy. Anyone of age who isn't in prison can own a gun. Those who we can't trust- they would be in prison."
Trust as defined by whom? I don't trust (our would be incline not to) anybody who has committed a violent felony. Are you saying it is better to keep them locked up forever? Have you considered the expense?

IMO, if you let a man out of prison and tell me he is safe, he is free, he has paid his debt to society, he's reformed, great. Let him move in next door and he can play with my kids. If you then tell me, "WAIT! Don't let that guy have a gun, he'll kill somebody!" Then, maybe we shouldn't let somebody like that walk the street with us.

You assume everybody is like you.

You got me on that one. Wouldn't the world work smoothly if we were all the same? I'm glad we're not. In a way, I'm glad some gun owners are liberal democrats. For one, it makes it harder for the press to paint every gun owner with the same brush. For two, it means there's hope for liberal democrats. :p

Fun day today. I'm going to go clean my guns and stop hijacking your thread. :)

I don't feel that way at all. We all have different and strong opinions and that is fine. It's doubtful anybody's opinions have changed, but we all have new perspectives. I have new ways to look at issues that I would not have thought about otherwise. Thank you and have a nice evening.

And that my Brothers and Sisters, is what is going to destroy our great Republic.

The Republic was founded on disobeying the laws. Our Republic thrived on progression with disobeying the laws (Mrs. Rosa Parks comes immediately to mind), and since we've all started to "just obey the laws", we've gone nowhere fast and have allowed our great Republic, to fall.

Spoken like a true "American". The government school system is working, sadly.

I find this very interesting Wayne. I mean sometimes I don't want to wear my seatbelt or put on my helmet, and I only do it to avoid the ticket or hassle. While I question the "right" of the state to enforce these laws; I do obey them. So, by your logic I am a subject? Health care is expensive and the burden of it falls on Johnnie Q tax payer when the county hospital can't get blood from a turnip.

Now the New Orleans thing is very intersting too. Give up my arms to the police? I suppose that the threat of death could cause me to hand'em over.

Tell me what you would do. I believe some battles are not worth the fight in the war. I'd rather live to fight another day.

There are ways to change the laws without breaking them. I don't think electing to take that path makes me Un-American or a subject.

You can paint with a broad brush, but the details are too important for me to ignore.

You seem to speak in terms of revolution. That is fine and dandy if the cause is worth the fight.

I humbly apologize for insulting you.

What I meant to convey was that I don't think you are a neo-Democrat in reality. (I also don't believe you are a hippy or a socialist.)

I believe you would not really agree with anything said by the current usurpers and influencers of the neo-Democrat Party.

What was a Democrat 40 years ago, is today a Republican.

A group is never better than it's leadership... and I feel very sad that so many Democrats have aligned themselves with the likes of Ted Kennedy, Jesse Jackson and Diane Feinstein and other hypocrites etc. :barf:

A true Democrat is personified by Zel Miller. Remember him?

Again, I'm sorry. If you like guns, you can't be all bad. :D :D

Thanks Pointer. I understand the frustration. There are some pretty pitiful souls on the Dem side that have inheritied power or have moved left of party ideas. I also think there are some admireable ones there too. Too bad they don't get alot of press.
