Things that a lot of people say about guns that ticks you off

Ahhh, thought of another.

Folks who don't have the first damn clue about handloading and believe all reloaders make suspect and/or crap ammo.

"Your brother in laws reloads", as it so often referred to in gun magazines.

Along with this is the assertion by non-reloaders that the owner's manual to their handgun stresses that "reloads are not recommended and will void the warranty" which is also a bunch of hooey.

Heard one this weekend that erked me a bit. Someone said they only clean their gun once or twice a year but shoot it all the time. Two or three times a year they will break out the bore snake but that's it. I guess I overdo it by cleaning up and oiling my gun after a day of shooting!

shouldn't concern you...

I hate... (HATE) when people come into my work (I work at a shooting range/gun shop) and notice my hammer is back on my colt, then proceed to ask me, "is that thing loaded...that's dangerous" then they go on to nodding in a disapproving manner. I answer them "yes, it was designed to be carried in such ways and will be used if need be."

.......how do they not understand there is an external safety?? Is it because I’m some young kid they think I shouldn't be carrying in such ways? .... This irks me, my apologies. lol

Just happened the other day. Lady is going on about how cute the built in laser is while waving the gun around and pointing it at everyone within twenty feet of her, including herself. Me and a couple of other customers even backed away from the counter and ducked. She was oblivious and just kept jabbering and waving the gun around.

"It's too heavy"

("It's heavier than a Glock")

"It's too expensive"

("It's more expensive than a Glock")

Sorry boys, Glock is not the benchmark, it is not the " be-all end-all" handgun. Glock pistols are definitely noteworthy, but they don't set the standard. That's like saying 'the history of communication should be compared to the smartphone'. Handgunnery and communication are about much more than that. But, don't let me stop you from drinking the kool aid.

Most times, ignorance doesn't bother me, as long as the "ignorant person" accepts an explanation about what he/she's wrong about. I don't mind spending a bit of my time explaining if my time and explanations are appreciated. If the referred person doesn't accept my explanations and insists in his/her stand being the right one, ignorance becomes stupidity and then it's not worth insisting. Let'em be, there are plenty of them. On the other hand, if his/her first statement is directly offensive, my reaction may range from total ignorance to a response in kind. That depends on moment, person, and situation.

This said, it doesn't bother me when someone calls "shotgun" a rifle, "bullet" to a cartridge of the like. What really triggers me (although I always try to be a polite contender if the debate arises) is when people demonizes firearms and/or firearms enthusiasts/shooters. You guys try to defend this stand over here, in Europe, and you will find out. Try to defend the American approach towards firearms and (which I understand and share), for some, you'll be a violent firearms psychopath while others mention Columbine and Waco. Sometimes I have succeeded in effectively countering those arguments, provided it was intelligent and sensible people I was arguing with, some others I've decided it wasn't worth it and backed off. To some, sometimes I even said "hope you ever need one".
