The first time you held the pistol you have always wanted...

I did not always want one- I grew up thinking that only Cops and Robbers needed a pistol- but when I grew up and figured out that there's never a Cop around when you need one, and you can't tote a rifle or shotgun with you everywhere, I wanted a 1911 in .45 ACP, and it did not take me long to get one.

I loved it. Still do. Solid. Reassuring. Seriously heavy.

That's why I Carry an EMP.

The Colt Anaconda I got for my highschool grad present. I'd only seen them in the past couple years' prior Gun Digests and read on them a bit...saw them in display cases...just never put my hands on one. I only knew that I loved the look of the full-lug and molded grips. My Mom took me down to our local, much beloved/now closed (it had a KILLER gun & fishing dept...couldn't beat their prices either), sporting goods super store to see what they had and there it was...a 6" stainless Anaconda in all it's beastly glory. The kind man behind the counter removed it from the glass case, handed it to me, and that was IT...my love was affirmed.

LOL at allthe berreta posts! I Would love a cz but every shop near me is aways sold out of them.. So many people love the Berreta its amazing.

RIght now im lusting after my revolver thats at the gunsmith being customized. I cant wait for it to come back..

Next on my list is a FN FNX-9.

Beretta 92FS was so cool in all the movies growing up. Loved the look. First gun I bought and I really like it. Felt great when I grabbed it the first time. I have small hands and no problems with the safety or grip size. Must be personal preference. From fist shot to last I have never had a problem either. About 750 rounds so far.

The 92 for me as well....Although I have the Taurus PT-99 version...I prefer it over the Beretta for saftey placement. It Shoots like a rifle and not ONE FTF or FTE, stove pipe or anything of the sort with 1k rounds so far. Fits my hands perfectly.

i feel like a broken record but i fell in love with the beretta 92 as well and finally this week i brought one home i havent fired it yet but it is amazing just knowing i have my dream hand gun

Probably a Luger, but I was very young (12-14), and it felt a little weird. It just didn't feel as good as it looked. Then along came a S&W Model 39. It STILL feels as good as it looks!

The "hearts desire" began about 1973..got this one a few years ago.

Have also met the desire for a Luger, Broomhandle, P.38, HiPower, Colt (various models) S&W various models, Rugers, Wildey, Desert Eagles, LAR Grizzlys, Coonan, Webley, Savage, Mauser, Remingtions, Contenders, and quite a few others I can hardly remember over the years.

How did I feel the first time I held one of them? Pretty good. Most of the time, I felt better when I first shot them, but not always.

CZ75b.

The first time I held one, angels sang. The grip fit my hand like it was made for me. I got to put a few rounds through it, and came away truly impressed.

I WILL own one.

Another Beretta fan, although the movies had nothing to do with. I just always thought it was a beautiful and well-made pistol. I brought home an Inox and put some nice walnut grips on it and still enjoy it. I have other pistols, too, but I think Beretta pistols are good values when you look at the price relative to the workmanship and design.

Oh, I realized I misunderstood the point of this thread, I thought it was about always wanting a gun that you ended up being a terrible mistake to buy.

Now that I am on track, I have always wanted a HK P30, I loved it, just seems like the perfect gun for me, I don't wan't to annoy anyone that has seen my other P30 related posts, it just is the gun I have always wanted, though my story is different because others saw their perfect gun in a magazine/movie, than they held it afterwards, I held the gun and liked it even more after seeing it on tv and in movies.

In 1968 I got to handle and fire a few rounds in a SIG 210. Since that time I have wanted to get one for myself. A few years ago I accidently found one: a SIG 210-6, with nice adjustable sights. It was more than I wanted to pay, but what the heck, you only live once. I got it and don’t regret it. It is a great gun to shoot.

I still lust after a 1960's S&W 38 cal. Combat Master Peace, I carried one while in the Air Force as and Air Policeman. I fell in love with one while in Air Police school and when I was issued one I was in heaven. Still in love and still looking.

Beretta 92FS was so cool in all the movies growing up.

So true! The 92 has got to be about the best looking gun out there and has so many features. Can't count how times they capitalized on that in Lethal Weapon 1 & 2. The shots with the slide locked back and then loading a new mag and hitting the slide release, the loading of a single bullet into the chamber (one with extreme close up), cocking the hammer back to enter SA mode (must have done that about 5 or 6 times), decocking the hammer, and probably some others I missed. Not to many guns you can do that with. Add to it Berettas excellent quality and craftsmanship and a gun design that is fun and easy to shoot and you have an automatic winner for TV and for home.

I always wanted a very nice 1911. Wasnt sure the maker but I always assumed it would be a Colt. The first time I held a Springfield TRP, I knew i found my dream 1911. I bought it on the spot and it is still my favorite gun.

Hahaha might as well change the thread to "the first time you held a Beretta 92". When I first saw the title I instantly thought of my 92.

I always wanted one since I got into guns a knew what it was. I held off holding one until I knew I had the money for it. Sure enough soon as I held it I knew it was for me. Salesman said the show one was the only one in stock. I wanted it so bad I didn't care. Been flawless, glad I was impatient.

Soon as I got home I turned on Netflix to watch Boondock Saints and hold my 92. But, alas it was no longer available on streaming Netflix (it's my 92 movie, I was too young when Lethal Weapon came out).

First gun I ever held was an S&W 28 that a cop neighbor showed me and my best friend about 1963 or so. I wanted one ever since. I finally got a 6+1/2" one in 1983 and regretted selling it instantly. I saw a Beretta 92 right after it came out, and wanted one, but never got one until 2010, when I grabbed up a 99% condition FS, in the box, with 7 magazines and Houge wrap around grips for $405. Shoots great, and even the two mags that people seem to have problems with all the time work fine.

For me it was always the .44 Automag. The first time I picked one up, I felt instantly transformed into something eight feet tall and completely covered with hair. ;-) I foolishly passed on the chance to buy one at 10% over cost when I worked at a gun store in the early seventies. My thoughts were that it was such a great pistol that I should wait for the cost to come down as production ramped up. D'oh! I have one now, with an additional .357 barrel, and it is a true pleasure to shoot in either caliber.

It was in the mid-eighties. I held a Sig P220. They were around $400 at the time. I was a revolver guy and passed on this complex machine with all of its levers and moving parts. I could never get that gun out of my head. My dream came true this spring with a stainless version.
