well for LEO's and CQB operators, that block thing on the end of the muzzle can have a very practical use in CQB as it keeps a perp at contact range from pushing the slide out of battery, and I suppose that the bayonet is an extra impediment to prevent bad guys from pawing the gun especially if the gun jams etc, but I'd be afraid that the bad guy stampedes off with the pistol stuck in his chest or something...can you say ooops?
