The Canik

Ive been wanting to get one just for a beater and to keep out in the shop but just never could get over the fact of having a decocker on a striker gun. I know it is very difficult to accidentally hit but Im still not a fan of it.

On a different note, can someone tell me how to quote another post? I am not new to forums at all, just new to this one. Maybe Im too new to quote posts yet? Not sure.

The command to quote other posts is right above the text section of when you write a message. Its on the bottom row, fourth one from the left.

I know some people hate decockers in general. What's so special about having one on a striker-fired gun? It's just rare. That's all. The famous Walther P99 has done it for twenty years now. It's both a throwback to DA/SA handling and a dedicated method for safely decocking without pulling the trigger.

To quote, use the little menu above where you type the message. It works by highlighting text and then clicking an option. For instance, I copied and pasted your text above, highlighted it, and clicked the button that looks like a little cartoon word bubble. Similarly, I highlighted "Walther P99" and clicked the button with a planet and some chain link to create a link to the official page. Take advantage of these tools to make better posts. :)

Thanks I think I got it now lol. Most forums you can click on a certain post and reply to that person only

Well I've heard there's some controversy surrounding the Canik. The low price is the result of them skipping some steps and as a result of skipping those steps the gun is weaker, even liable to blow up. Im not sure about that, I've put close to 2000 rounds through mine and haven't had any problems but its worth looking into.

I second the query. I did extensive research before I purchased a Stingray and did not read a single line of negativity. I've never heard of any issues with their product line past nor present. Please cite your sources.

Well if one guy says it, it must be true. :p

I mean no offense to you personally. The firearms industry is one where rumor has a ludicrous amount of power. That is the first such comment I've heard and for all I know it could be true and I will be on the lookout for more such comments. Sadly "facts" are often non-existent in this industry; I'd want to see more data that backs up such a claim (unless that individual has privileged information on the practices of Canik and can show verification of that access). Given the number of Caniks out there if they do have a tendency to "blow up" I imagine we'll find out.

Do they sell guns at that range? If so I assume not Caniks. I don't think CGW would have anything to do with Caniks if they thought there were unsafe.

cz75 compact clone

They sell all sorts of guns I wouldn't be surprised if they do sell Caniks. They even have a display case full of Wilson Combats which I haven't found even at the Cabela's which isn't too far away and is also the biggest location in their chain. At this particular range and gun shop they seem particularly devoted to Sig Sauer and they've got an entire section of the store with only Sigs.

Owning one is great but that doesn't tell us where the NATO approved and 50,000 rd claim comes from.
+1.

Waymor51 – NATO does not approve service arms per se. They issue standardized ammunition specifications, and member nations are expected to use firearms capable of firing this ammunition safely, but the details are up to the adopting nation.

I recall that Canik bragged that some of their firearms "meet NATO specifications" in press releases that were parroted by the gun press, but this is a fatuous claim, as it merely means "our pistols can fire 9mm NATO ammunition without immediately blowing up". Well then, so can most competing full-size 9mm pistols from quality gunmakers. Their point is...?

it was in my tp9sa owners manual , do youtube search for canik tp9sa reviews. not going to argue , it is what it is. i am not a gun snob, theres real good guns out there for almost half the price of over priced glocks and such.

I wouldn't consider myself a snob either and I have nothing really against Canik, I'm just pretty skeptical of all marketing from any company. If the pistol's been reliable for you then that's the real proof.
