The Campaign promises of George W. Bush

With out Bush, would we have such good humor as...

....

After Hurricane Katrina, President Bush wanted to go make a trip to NOLA in order to survey the damage.

He arrives and is in utter disbelief that an entire city can be wiped away so easily. He's standing on one of the over-passes where it meets the water and disappears. The water is rushing by fairly quickly.

He slips, and plunges right into the swift moving water.

Three boys see the President slip to his certain death and decide to act. They each dive in and swim the President back to dry asphalt.

The Secret Service personal come rushing up, vehemently thank the boys, and proceed to revive the President. One Secret Service agent comes up to the boys, "You boys are very brave, and you have done a great service for your country. We'd like to repay you - is there anything you want? Anything at all?"

One boy pipes up right away and says, "Yeah I'd love to go to Disney World!"

The SS agent explains, "Sure son, we'll get you over to Disney World on Airforce One ASAP."

Second boy says, "I'd love to go to Disney World too!"

The SS agent says, "Great, you and your friend can go together."

The third boy looks at the agent and asks, "Sir, can I have one of those electric power wheel chairs that you control with a joystick, and have a red flashing light on the top?"

SS agent, "Well sure kid, but wouldn't you rather have a new bike or go to Disney World with your friends?"

Boy, "Well, yes sir I would, but my Dad's gonna break every bone in my body when he hears what I did today so I'm really gonna need that wheel chair."

:D :p ;)

I'm outta the loop. I was just told this past Thursday. :o

It gave me a good belly laugh. :)

Figures - I'm horrible at telling jokes, let alone remembering them. So when I finally remember one - it's old and probably beat to death

"Those were promises he made to American Citizens publicly."

Are you so naive that you really believe that any President, any one person, actually runs this country? Money is appropriated and spent by Congress. You can look it up.

John

P.S. - Your agenda seems to be showing. ;)

I'd like to see anyone keep a promise, when an entire political party, the MSM, and a bunch of liberal/left wackos, do everything in their power to stop you.

I agree with the poster that said my vote FOR Bush was also a vote AGAINST the left. I like seeing the left lose. This last election season the left lost the Presidency and many key Congressional seats. It sends a clear message to them that most of America doesn't like their tactics.

It's sad, but I expect to be lied to by the current system. What I DON"T like is the dirty tactics of the left and the Dems. They call the right racist when they are equally racist. They point the finger at the right for one cheap scandal after another, when they are equally guilty. They even make up stuff to try to tarnish the right. I think the right is guilty of politics. The left is guilty of extremely dirty politics.

For instance, let's take this whole business of allegedly "lying" about WMDs by Bush. This is typical of the current left and Dems. They accuse Bush about lying and are even trying to impeach him. However, US and international intelligence was certain that Iraq had or was trying to get WMDs -- all the evidence was there. Leading Dems, including Kerry and all of the Dem senators that voted for the war, are quoted as saying that Saddam had WMDs in their vote for the war. IT's just typical cheap Dem rhetoric.

Voting against the Dems is a vote FOR gun rights. Bottom line.

Rebar, last time I looked the Republicans were in control of The White House and both houses of Congress. So if legislation is not getting enacted that would mean some of the Republicans are holding the show up also.

John BT, I know that Congress has the power of the budget strings..... I also know that President Regean knew how to use the bully pulpit to whip Congress in shape. Lets not forget that the President also has the power to veto. This president is also the leader of his party which holds both houses of Congress. So are you telling me that he is a weak president?

Sulaco...read the description of this section of the forum.

The right is no rookie when it comes to dirty tactics....

WMD and Bush

long subject there......

I find it odd that before we had determined who was actually at fault for the 9/11, you Had Cheney, Woflowitz and Rumsfeld wanting to attack Iraq. These guys seem to have W's ear and attention. I wouldnt say it was lying, just a desire to go to war with Iraq on the part of some administration officials. First we had the yellow cake which we now know was a forgery. The things that were presented as evidence were the mobile labs and metal tubes. Where did this come from? an informant named Curveball whom the Germans had before 9/11. They informed the DIA but they also said the this guy wasnt 100%. There was an internal fued within the CIA as to the accuracy of his information. If Bush and his officials were pushing for information to go to war with Iraq... who is to say that Tenet ignored the warnings about Curveball and served this up on a platter to the President to give him what he wanted. David Kay who was handpicked by Bush to lead the search resigned and never reaaly found anything.

So no I dont think Bush lied, He told the truth about what he was presented by the CIA. The question is was the administration selective in its evidence?
2000 Americans have paid the ultimate price because we went to war with Iraq over WMD capabilities. I think the American people are owed some answers.

Colin Powell went eye to eye with Tenet and asked him if he stood 100% behind the evidence he was going to present to the UN. Powell told him good because he was going to sit right behind him at the UN. Which leads me to beleive Powell had his doubts about the evidence. Powell being a class act and a team player went ahead based on the word of George Tenet and presented the evidence. Probably led to his decision to retire.

So show me the WMDs.........

If Bush is so gun rights why isnt he going after the GCA of 68? Words are cheap. We have heard proclomations for 2nd amendrights and the bill was just passed to protect gun manufacturers cloosing those anti-gun backdoor attempts. The let certain acts expire. Now he should go after the GCA of 68...

Voting for the GOP is a vote not for gun rights but for a perhaps mildly less oppressive regime on gun rights. On Meet the Press, Tim Russert asked some hard core right GOP senator (forgot the name) about Ailito's opinion that Congress had no power to regulate machine guns. Brady bunch were making a stink about it.

The right wing is all upset that the SCOTUS legislates from the bench (meaning abortion btw - that's the core issue). So Russert asks, isn't that legislating from the bench to say that Congress has no right to legislate against MGs? Senator Right Wing says that is correct and Ailito is wrong. AND that Congress has the right to legislate no MGs for you. That would imply that Senator Right Wing would think that a SCOTUS decision voiding gun laws would be legislating from the Bench. Also, he is in favor of gun bans.

All these guys are full of crap. The higher levels of the GOP would turn against gun rights in a second if it suited their purpose.

Also, they don't care that much about them any more. They think they get all the right wingers they want with raving about gays and abortion.

Gotta love it......

My dad always told me that TV is a distraction to cover up what is really going on in the world. In other words, a President can only make suggestions, Congress and Senate pass the bills on spending/cutting budgets. The Excutive branch can veto, but Congress/Senate can override that too. Let the "blame" (for lack of better word) fall squarely where it needs to. I always look in the mirror when the blaming starts, cause that's where the "blame" really starts. If you(or I) doesn't like whats going on, why don't you make some calls, or send some emails to your elected officials!
I do it all the time!
But that's just my 2 cents!!!!!

"So are you telling me that he is a weak president?"

Nope, only pointing out that he is just the President. He's not the king and he's not a dictator and he's not their daddy. He cannot make Congress do his bidding or bend to his will. No President can - the history books are full of battles between the parties and between the branches of government.

That's just the way it is. It doesn't pay to get your hopes up based on how powerful you think the President really is in the scheme of things.
