The All new Taurus G3c

Interesting, a minute ago it said In Stock.

Either way, prices are not hiked up everywhere, just have to time the inventory right hah.

Eh, it’s easy to list something for a lower price when you don’t have it in stock. I see it happen at online retailers all the time. Often when it does come back in stock the price bumps up. That might not be the case here, it’s just been my experience.

Bought a Taurus G3C today. Lubed it up quickly and took it to the range. Want to share my thoughts.

Reasons for purchase:
1) I wanted a concealable striker fired pistol with 10+ capacity
2) fit perfect in my hand
3) have read and heard it's extremely reliable
4] great price and value
5) like the double strike capability
6) like all the after market options

I go to the range a couple of times a month, so I'll know if I can trust the firearm to go bang every time. This is critical and should be done with any firearm.

At the range and at home I learned the following:
1) worked flawlessly at the range
2) love the grip texture and size. Controls recoil extremely well and returns to target very easily.
3) very easy to break down and reassemble
4) perfect size. Small enough to conceal, but not so small I can't get a good grip. Can quickly retrieve from holster

This seems to be a perfectly fine firearm for people who baby their weapons. i.e.: clean and lube regularly. And for people on a budget. I might pass on this firearm if 1) I did not go to the range regularly, or 2) I was going to abuse and neglect the firearm, in which case I'd go with a more proven military weapon.

Overall, so far, very happy with the purchase.

I have owned a PT111 G2 and a G2C. Both are great guns and 100% trustworthy. The PT111 G2 got passed on to my son when he moved into his first apartment, and the G2C is my wife's designated home defense gun (because it is the one she shoots the best). Trusting them enough to protect my family is pretty much the best review I can give them.

The G3C is new, so It may well have a bug or two on arrival, but it's lineage gives me every reason to assume it will be a good option. For those asking what it is intended to compete with, I would say it is closest to the G26 - basically the same dimensions, but higher standard capacity and half the price. It is also a reasonable competitor to some of the single stacks - not that much bigger than the Shield, for example.

My wifey is still shooting and EDC'ing her 1st Gen Taurus 24/7 Pro C in Pink.
It's never failed her, and she is really happy with it.
Her backup pistol is another one exactly the same except blued...
which used to be mine before she commandeered it ;)
She loves the 17+1 capacity with its small size.

I checked them both for the Fatal Safety Flaw when it hit the news, neither had the issue.
Did have one bad magazine, sent it back to Taurus of Florida, they sent her two new ones that worked.
We're happy with the way Taurus Customer Service operates, but I also know how to work my way
thru CSR's...there is a way to handle issues which gets your problem solved,
as opposed to having long waits and bigger problems.
Kind of like dropping a car off with a "Something is wrong with it"...and leaving ain't gonna get squat done.

It's all in how one talks to the CSR, and in also putting a printed note in with the repair item.
In that note you detail the problem...so that the repair guy who only gets a ticket from the CSR
(and you are lucky if the CSR puts in more than "doesn't work" in the comments section)
can quickly fix the issue instead of wondering what the heck is wrong and putting it on the back shelf.

If you want something fixed, you've got to help the repair guy as much as possible with good information.
And just Describe The Problem...don't second guess what's wrong with it, keep it simple.
The tech will solve it better that way, and usually faster.

Be nice to the support people, and they'll usually bend over backwards to solve your issues.
Y'all have no idea how many scumbags call in and rant like heck...those jokers are ALWAYS back-burnered.
Squeaky mean wheel gets poop to grease with, that's just a stone cold fact.

Why buy a Taurus? Is it because that is all you can afford? Taurus quality has been terrible for years. I have said it many times - if someone GAVE me a Taurus, I would not want it...

Why risk it? No, 100% of the guns they make don't break - but they seem to have WAY higher of a percentage of problems, compared to other brands. IF money IS an issue.... When you can buy an M&P Shield for $250 or less, WHY buy a Taurus? Don't like the Shield? There are still other, higher quality firearms in the $300 range. Hell, the Beretta APX is around the $300 mark if you look hard enough online.

If you REALLY WANT to buy a Taurus, and you know what you are doing - I GUESS, go ahead.... Knock yourself out.

But, too many gun newbies fall for Taurus products... They walk in the door and see the price of the Taurus guns compared to everything else. Then, the know nothing sales person (usually at a big box chain store, because a good % of real gun stores will not even carry the brand) will tell the newbie how good the gun is.

Then, after the 1st range trip, they post at a gun forum, asking for help. And by the time they pay for shipping (in the past, Taurus refused to cover shipping - not sure about 2020), the gun was no longer cheap (it's over $50 to ship a gun back to the manufacturer).... Then, be prepared to wait forever to get the gun back...

And, how many times have I see posts on various forums of guns being returned by Taurus with NOTHING done to them?

Even the various CEOs can't change things, no matter what they promised...

People point to the newest 2020 CEO as "turning the company around." But, look at Taurus history:

Back in 2010 - Someone quotes an article about how the new CEO of Taurus (Mark Kressler) will help improve quality... : https://thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=408285&highlight=taurus+quality

I then did an internet search of the CEO prior to Kressler. His name was Bob Morrison, and he was CEO in the earlier 2000s. I couldn't find even ONE article where he said he would improve quality... Go figure... :D

In 2012, the Taurus CEO, Mark Kressler, promises "new products, better customer relations and higher quality": https://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/taurus-no-more-bull/

But then in 2014, that CEO (Mark Kresser,) was fired... He was a CEO who had "led the charge at Taurus to tighten quality control."

https://www.guns.com/news/2014/07/3...ly-fired-its-former-after-company-acquisition

And, his replacement CEO plans to repair the Taurus reputation in 2014 (Anthony Acitelli): https://www.shootingsportsretailer.com/stories/interview-taurus-usa-ceo-anthony-acitelli

In 2015, that same CEO (Anthony Acitelli) said: "the agreement is a step to rebuild the brand’s credibility". He was referring to a class action lawsuit about defective guns...

https://www.guns.com/news/2015/12/21/taurus-ready-to-rebuild-credibility-but-hurdles-still-ahead

Furthermore: Acitelli said: "A company that stands behind its product and is willing to do the right thing for the customer actually gives us credibility."

https://mhhlaw.net/taurus-ready-to-rebuild-credibility-but-hurdles-still-ahead/

Acitelli eventually left, and in 2017, the new CEO (David Blenker) said: “We have a very dedicated work force that is committed to making Taurus the top brand and I’m excited to be leading the team with this vision.

But, in Jan 2020, David Blecker leaves, and he is replaced by Bret Vorhees. Here, Vorhees, the new Taurus CEO, vows to improve quality in April 2020:

Yea, it's gonna happen.... After all these years, Taurus is "better."
Wow, that is a really bias statement and just opinion period. I do not own a Taurus never have. I have shot many over the years and know folks in my club that have owned them for years and love them. You say things in your statement like "But, too many gun newbies fall for Taurus products... They walk in the door and see the price of the Taurus guns compared to everything else. Then, the know nothing sales person (usually at a big box chain store, because a good % of real gun stores will not even carry the brand) will tell the newbie how good the gun is."

Lol, all my LGS in my area carry Taurus and they are REAL gun stores. I have seen them in all stores for decades. I do not need to go into further comments other than to say I disagree with your statement.
I have shot the New Taurus G3 and it was a fine shooter. No bias and no dog to kick on this subject. I do not plan to buy one, I have my favorites already. But all this kind of Bashing just does not jive with all the guns from Taurus I have shot over the years. Yes some I thought sucked, others shot very well and good quality.

The OP asked about the G3, and again a fine shooting firearm IMO. I like the grip, the trigger and the shooting characteristics.

I've shot and own a Taurus G3C and it is a fine piece.

I also own various Taurus pistols of various models ( G2S, PLY-22, PT-22, PT732, and a PT58) that work just fine.

I had the G2C but traded for the G3C.
