Scott Evans, it sounds like the first part of your description is similar to my own situation, though not the second.

Pro: I cannot be fired. Con: I cannot quit.
Vacation: I had one day a couple of weeks ago. First full day in 11+ years, if I've figured correctly. Then there was such chaos when I returned to work I wondered if the day off had been worth it.

My employment? I'm a stay-at-home homeschooling mom with 5 children ages 10 and under.

I get three weeks paid vacation, plus another 9 paid days that are called various other things. Which is about average for my profession.

As you can see, there are vast differences in jobs, benefits, etc. here in America and probably elsewhere where governments do not interfere.

Those who need "security" find our ways frightening and unfair.
Those who appreciate freedom sometimes chafe at the restrictions we do have.
