Tell me I'm not crazy.

Revolvers are a classic design. Whirl they aren't typically whiz bang new, they are reliable and carry a sense of history that most semi autos just don't carry.

What isn't to love?

Since I've had both single and double action revolvers jam on me, I can tell you that NO gun is 100% reliable. I will say that you are pretty much guaranteed at least one shot with a revolver though which cannot be said with a semi.

As a hunter, I don't see much utility out of SAs for that purpose. Nothing is as versitile as a 44mag Blackhawk for tailoring your load to your intended game (but there are more powerful handguns to be sure). But, for sport shooting, the semi gets the nod.

The tool makes the task, as my father says.

Established does not mean Antiquated

Just a point to those who think that just because the basic design of a revolver is older than the many designs of semi's does not mean it has been surpassed.

The 1911 has proven to be a better design than many semi-auto designs that followed it.

In many cases a double-barrel shotgun can out perform a semi-auto

No matter how wiz-bang rifles get, there will always be a place for bolt actions (at least as long as the metallic cartridge hangs around.)

I do not know anyone who can shoot better, at 100 yards, with an semi-auto rather than a revolver.
I always find it amusing how LEO's will carry their semi and 40+ rounds of ammo but their "last chance" firearm is a good-ol j-frame Smith.

There will always be a place for revolvers.
(... and you don't have to chase your brass ;) )
