Tell me I'm not crazy.

Revolver

I really love a singe action revolvers. Colt, Ruger and the like. My favorite gun is my ruger blackhawk 44 magnum. I would rather shoot it than anything.

You're not crazy, you just appreciate things which are well-built. I also naturally gravitate to the used revolver counter at gun stores. There's something about the engineering in a revolver that's fascinating.

LostSheep: Yes, you are crazy.

The same kind of crazy that leads people to love steam locomotives, grandfather clocks with pendulums that tick-tock and hand carved wood.

Bless you and all who share your insanity.

Paradoxically, it is one of the things that keeps the world sane.

Well you may have a point. I am an old vietnam veteran and I have noticed that most of the other vietnam veterans I know, seem to like revolvers. I have enough trouble losing things without carrying magazines. I find carrying speed loaders with my revolvers requires very little space. My S&W 625-5 has a capacity of six, my CA 44 Spl of five. I shot for qualification with a 9 MM SA. Every SA I have been shown that was new by my range pal, seemed to malfunction because of the magazine, or because it was new.
I like the simplicity of a revolver. Not saying it cannot malfunction but if a round does not fire, I can pull the trigger again, or reach for a second revolver. :)

I always feel bad when I go to the gunstore and people are looking at semi-autos and I am the only one looking at revolvers.

Don't feel bad. Feel good. They have them in the store because other people like them AND BUY THEM too!... (Like me for instance, sometimes...)

9mm: I am a revolver nut, about to buy two more revolvers later in the year. I just like them. Better to have them in 22lr than auto's IMO, no loading of magazines.

Me too, revolver nut that is. Unlike StandingWolf, I rule out magnums and any calber below 38. I did shoot the 9MM SA for qualificaation. Guess since I don't own a SA, not likely to ever buy one or carry one, I am left with renting one every time I shoot for qualification. Thought about just using one of my revolvers next time. I have bought 4 in less than 2 years, and am looking only for one more, the S&W 696. But I am not confident of being able to find one. None of the gunshops seem to have them.:(

Thank you to all that have replied. I just love revolvers. I am 43 and I have always loved them. I love when they rae used in movies and tv shows. I live in Florida and recently took a trip, I saw the security guard at the rest stop was carrying a revolver. It got me excited. Also I went to a courthouse in the south counties and the security guard there was carrying a revolver also. I got excited again. Once again thank you to all that have replied.

I was at the DMV, and the security guard also had a revolver, I said, "no Glock?" the young officer grumbled and said, "Not yet". He didn't like having only six shot's I guess.

Dude, in no way are you crazy.

I'm a HUGE 1911 fan but there is something special about a wheel gun that makes it a work of art.

Efficiently employing one is also an art of it's own. I will take a revolver at the end of the day.

I was watching a show the other day and they reffered to revolvers as antiquated technology.

Well, the wheel is "antiquated technology" and it seems to be holding its own pretty well.

Last I heard, the bow and arrow was still working pretty well also.

Hammers and nails are still around also.

I agree with the poster who said that antiquated often equals proven.

dude!!! dont EVER be ashamed to be a wheelie! Just ask yourself or whomever questions the " antiquated technology " of a revolver, if they would willingly want to be on the business end of one!! Revolvers are wonderful guns, with their own unique advantages/weaknesses, just like semi autos. Both are great for different reasons.

What's not to love? GLOCK has their rabid fans, 1911's have their's (not to mention all the different makers of 1911's) S&W, Ruger....

Brands have their fans, different types have their fans, different eras have their fans, different countries....

Man the list just goes on and on and on and on.

Personally, I'm a revolver lover myself. I just think that a man is hard pressed to find something more beautiful, functional or practical than a classic S&W DA revolver.

The Colt Python is a real beauty too, along with the old SA revolvers modeled after Colt's famous SAA/Peacemaker.

Here's my mistress, a S&W 65-2 that I've tinkered with a bit. I have a friend over on FTF who is making me some custom wood grips. I've done a complete action job, reduced the trigger pull, bobbed the hammer, smoothed and radiused the trigger face, and soon I'll be cerakoting the rear sight notch in black, and installing either a red or orange insert into the front sight, or a gold bead, I haven't decided yet.

A little before and after...

Well, if you're crazy for having a few revolvers, that must mean that I'm stone cold frigging nuts for having as many as I have.

Well, the wheel is "antiquated technology" and it seems to be holding its own pretty well.

I heard the 1911 has been around for over a hundred years, looks like antiquated just keeps getting better.

Wyn, I will pick up my revolvers any day over my semi-autos. If my life comes down to it, I trust my revolver more than any semi-auto you hand me. When the hammer drops on my Rugers the bullet will always fly out of the stainless steel barrel and that 45 long colt bullet will hit the target.

I will also grab my lever gun before I pick up my ak47. And im not old, I'm 24 but I love and enjoy these so-called "out dated" firearms.

I share your affection, but I am not crazy. Just contrarian: when I was a kid, everybody loved revolvers, but I chose semiautos. Now, everyone is in love with autos, so I choose to be different. :D

I love em--here are two favorites, my GP 100 and the Cimerron 1871 Colt conversion model in .45 Long Colt-----

I too am a revolver nut. I love old DA colts and dan wessons becuase they are no longer made. Semi autos have their place, like war time or for a patrolman, but plastic guns are ugly...and plastic.

Wheel guns are the best for CCW or home use. There is no magazine to loose. no ftf or fte to worry about. Perfect.....

I too drool all over the wheel gun section for sure...

And the smith 586 L comp is the hot super model of the new breed of wheel guns......
