Taurus Question

taurus firearms are like a lightening rod for comments.
you get the i have never owned a taurus and i never will crowd.
you get the i bought 1 and had problems and will never buy 1 again crowd.
you get the i bought 1 and love it crowd...i am one of those :) actuall i bought 8 with no problems :)

what i can't understand are they i have bought (fill in the blank) 4....5....6....different taurus fireams and they have all been crap crowd. i tend to not believe their posts. i mean 1 bad gun then shame on taurus, 2 bad guns then shame on you. i read a post where a guy actually bought a taurus that worked fine and he then sold it at a loss and was happy to do so. i mean whats up with that?

my opinion after owning 8 taurus handguns is that the majority of the "i hate taurus" posts are from people that have never owned a taurus and paid 2 to 3 times more for a simular gun and are just trying to justify their purchase. how bad they must feel after spending 2 grand on a 1911 only to be outshot by a pt1911. or how little respect they get for buying some german or italian wonder gun only to be out shot by a pt-92 or millinium model or have some high $$$$ revolver and be outshot by a ragging bull. or god forbid have had problems with their custom made 1 of a kind made just for them gun.

every gun maker has its lemons, even custom gun makers and i'm not saying taurus has no problems what so ever but come on keep the taurus threads at least to actual buyers. i just can't believe anyone is actually stupid enough to buy 4.....5......or 6 bad taurus guns and keep buying them. i know i would'nt. come on folks no one is either that unlucky or that......eh......uneducated?

Was looking to add a few more clips, Taurus OEM clips are 39.00 bucks each plus shipping. Any good aftermarket ones and if so how much?

My first Taurus revolver was discovered broken when I got it home while dry firing. It was the model 85 in stainless. It needed to be sent in to the factory.

I took it back and got a replacement. The replacement broke after about 100 rounds or less. It was sent off and I got it back. I sold it for a significant loss because nobody wanted to pay anything for a used Taurus. I got about $175 for a stainless .38 snubby with a concealed hammer. Nice!

I was done with Taurus for years. So I finally give in because all the Taurus lovers are saying how great Taurus is, how things have changed. I picked up a 3rd generation PT145. It was not only innaccurate, but shot very low, and had a host of malfunctions. At about round 65 the extractor went flying off, spring went into space and it was done for the day. I was done with Taurus. I took it back to my FFL that day and he gave a refund. Nice guy! I went and bought something that worked, a CZ.

Lesson, I bought cheap and got burned. I knew the problems with Taurus yet I still bought hoping things had changed. The bottom line is that when you buy a firearm you should not have to deal with crap like this. I've yet to have any type of malfunction with any of the 3 Hk P7's I've owned. I've owned 3 Sig that never malfunctioned or broke in any way. I've had Glocks that never failed. Some handguns have failed, but It's usually an easy fix. Having products that continue to break and need to be sent back to the factory gets old.

We pay good money and should get something that works properly in return.

It's common sense. Buy a quality firearm. There is no way any Taurus out there stacks up to my Glocks, CZ's, Hk's, or Sig. If you think it does, then you either lack knowledge or experience with a good handgun. Yes, there are a lot of Taurus fans. But if you research any post for "best firearm" or "worst firearm" Taurus is always the bottom of the pile or close to it. Does anyone value what other members think or experience? Apparently not, all we get is argument, name calling, defensiveness. If you get a Taurus and it breaks don't whine about it here because the information is posted.

Firepower.

I just read that poll. I did not vote. IMO, It's limited to get bad answers on Taurus. If you make a choice poll where I have to answer yea or nay on my Rugers VS my Smith's then I would also have a problem. Not saying Taurus is great, just that you need more choices in your poll.

Added: Would I choose Taurus semi over others...well depending on what I am carrying that day. When I carry my Taurus I have made that choice by default. When I carry my XD then I have made the choice for XD, same with my P90, 1911, etc. IMO, the poll needs better choices.

I guess I could make a poll. But why not just ask "do you trust a Taurus semi enough for personal SD"? Seems like a more direct way to get an answer to me. On the other hand I don't think I want to author yet another Taurus VS thread.

I can't see how it would be possible for Taurus to have customer service as bad as Colt. Someone in this thread mentioned they sent a Taurus in and got it back in a month - that's about one quarter the time it takes for Colt to open the box of a gun needing service.

I own Taurus & Colt, but I have never had either in for service. But I must admit I have heard lots of bad press on Taurus customer service here and on other forums.

BTW, I just had reason to talk to S&W customer service about some re-finish work on my Mod. 36. Got a Rep. immediately.....no robots. They were very courteous and answered all my questions. I have had the same experience with Ruger service. I can only hope that Taurus and Colt are the same.

Taurus

I have 2 Taurus Hand guns . Both are really well made and are not for sale. LOL My Tracker .22 mag is awesome. And my 9 mm is my self defence in house protector. It shoots real well never jams and is very dependable. Of coarse it only good for 10 yard shots but it will take out anyone in the house that didn't knock. :D So I give Taurus Arms. Thumbs up.

Saying that it is only good for 10 yards says volumes. When you were purchasing this weapon, were you told that its accurate ot reliable ONLY up to 10 yards? And had you been told that, would you have still bought it? I am pretty sure most of us, if told such, would not buy that particular gun.

But Firepower from looking at your past posts you Hate Taurus. Do you think everyone else should be cause you do? kinda Bias and almost racist so to say. So hatefull.

Isn't starting a thread titled "Taurus Question" on a gun discussion forum kinda like starting a thread "The Jewish Question" (Judenfrage) on a German forum? Or did anyone see the Kentucky Fried Movie? Do you remember when the daredevil went into a lower-class black neighborhood and yelled "N*****!" ? It's the same thing.

I dont think everyone should hate Taurus. You need to understand we are talking about an equipment or a contraption at most not human being. All I say is that there is lot of lemons when it comes to Taurus. You make your own call. If you like one then so be it, more power to you.

I am not going even comment on your allegation of I being racist. My previous post was simply an elaboration on what the poster had posted what he/she understood to be in favor of Taurus.

Too much for me

Taurus is just a mechanical device. Like any other brand you can name they are mechanical devices made by humans and used by humans. All mechanical devices can and will fail at some time or other.

I propose we stop calling guns by brand name. We should simply call them device no. 1.1, 2.0, 3.5, etc. Of course then someone would claim that device numbers that are integers are better devices. :(

Ask yourself one question: Would you buy a car made in Brazil?

Yes, it's called a Springfield 1911. It's got single action drive and gets 8 rounds per mag.:)

PS: Sometimes we forget that Taurus is not the only one that makes guns in Brazil.

Thought we had seen the last of this one in mid August.

'Twas not to be...

Late September will be a finisher for it instead.
