Taurus

I currently own a M444 (Raging Bull in .44 Rem Mag) and a PT945 (.45ACP semi-auto). Both have proven to be reliable and accurate handguns. The Raging Bull in particular is amazingly accurate. Firing from a sandbag rest through a red dot scope I have clover-leafed five rounds at 25 yds. Make no mistake, I believe that the older Smiths and Rugers have the edge in quality over the new Tauruses, but only by a razor thin margin. JMHO

Prodigalshooter, you will enjoy your Tracker. I've had the 4" .357 for about 7 months now and am very fond of it. Good choice in picking up the SS model. I decided on the SS instead of the Titanium cause I figured the wife wouldnt like the sharper recoil with the lighter frame. I carry it in a Bianchi belt holster and it rides like a feather. Carried it all over southern Arizona yesterday and never felt the weight. If you want speedloaders then look for the 7 shot S&W loader #587. It fits fine.

had over 25 taurus revolvers over the years. only 1 was unsatisfactory

heat expansion caused cylinder to lock up on 605 due to insuficient gap. was repaired by factory. n/c . 2 month wait.

currently carry 4 inch tracker titanium and 85 ul daily.

No complaints rgarding Taurus from me. I have 2 Taurus M85 38 snubbies. One in Stainless steel, and the other in Total Titanium. They both look and work 100% of the time. I'd buy another Taurus gun in a heartbeat.

Taurus 357

Logistar,
Don't you think I would be the better one to make a comment on MY christmas present? It is a very comfortable, well-made weapon. I like the fact that I can use either .38 or 357 loads. And the trigger pull is absolutely fantastic! You would never know it is hammerless by the feel of the trigger. I highly recommend it -- especially for those ladies out there that want some power... but doesn't want to feel like they need a whole lot of strength to operate their weapon. Logistar did an excellent job of Christmas shopping this year!:D

I have tried to give Taurus a chance. I even suggsted my father buy one for his CCW gun, until we actually dry fired one at the gun shop. Uggh! What terrible triggers and generally lousy quality they have.

IMO, they have not even approached S&W.

I have the Raging Bull 8" in 454, fantastic revolver. Compared to my buddy's Freedom Arms piece, it is not nearly as nice, double-action vs single-action aside; but the grip is magnificent (for me) and the porting does wonders on that 454. I don't think I would ever get the FA piece, even if price were the same. The Ruger may be nicer, but I don't like their grips, and porting is extra.

I had a Dan Wesson 357 mag and before I would get another one I'd get the Taurus Sillhouette model.

On the other hand I have heard of several problem children in their polymer lineup. I have owned a steel PT-92, it was a great 9mm, even if it was a Beretta clone (yuck on the size). Other reports suggest these were a hit-or-miss quality thing, so maybe we got a good one. The 30rd clip was pretty cool for awhile though :D

Lace...

Post number one, eh? Let me be the first (or at least one of the first) to welcome you to the board.
This is exactly what we need. More women who are as enthusiastic regarding shooting as Lace seems to be!

Kentucky Rifle

Thank you, Kentucky Rifle, for the welcome. Believe me... I was NOT real thrilled about shooting until recently. I was scared to death to even hold a gun. But with alot of patience on Logistar's part... I have come to respect weapons and even enjoy firing them. I am taking the carry & conceal class next Wednesday (the class is a birthday present from Logistar) so I can actually carry my Taurus. My only problem now is.... what kind of holster do I want? I have looked at the purses, but I don't always take a purse with me. I am leaning towards to shoulder holster, but Logistar seems to think that's not the best option for a woman. Any ideas?

I got a titanium ported .357 snubbie and had to send it back to the factory. It locks because it shave part of the jacket off and wedges it between the cylinder and barrel. So if it functions flawlessly wehn I get it back, I'll keep it, if not, I lose again, and will seriously consider giving up on getting a well made small revolver.

I have had a 6" SS Tracker for about a year and a half, I paid $379 for it and would like to buy one in .41 mag but they do not have it in 6" yet. Taurus is the only firearms manufacturer that has gotten an ISO 9001 rating, in industry that is fairly hard to get and is a feather in their cap. I really like my tracker it shoots very well and has a nice trigger. It is not a precisly fited gun but who cares, it shoots every time and is in a holster most of the rest. INMNSHO I like taurus Wheel guns..... Autos???????? too many stories????????

I carry a M85 UL in a ankle holster everyday and have not found a better gun for this use. It withstands the dirt and dust build-up that seems to accumulate at the top of my boots and still functions flawlessly.

Lace...

Any ideas? I've got a million of them! :) You received a model 650, .357 snub for Christmas, correct? a two inch barrel revolver that comes in blue or stainless, correct? (Which did you get? Where are you taking your CCW class?) My wife carries her Total Ti 85 in a concealment purse most of the time. However, sometimes a concealment purse is inconvient..for example, when she walks the dogs. At times like these she has a very inexpensive, Uncle Mike's nylon holster. (Under $10.00.) It's meant to be carried IWB, but she just slips it in her coat pocket. Perfect! Her Taurus is instantly available for "business". Also, several holster makers have have designed belt slide models for women. (Since men and women have "different" curves, sometimes a great hip holster for a man will be a pain in the...well you know, for a woman.) Don Hume Leather makes a holster called the DAH. (Double Action Holster) It has belt slots that make it possible for you to wear it in the "small" of your back OR on a hip. It's a good one. I believe Ron Graham makes a belt slide that works well for women also. (He's a GREAT guy to deal with, and a good friend of mine.) Also, if my memory is right, the 650 weighs about 22.5 ounces. If you wear jeans or any kind of pants a lot, there are some nice ankle holsters available. (I don't think your 650 would be too heavy for an ankle holster.)
I'm sure that there are lots more that are suitable for women, but I just lost my train of thought. I just knocked over this damn lamp AGAIN and popped the bulb. This is only the sixth or seventh time I've done that!

TAURUS FIREARMS - QUALITY IS JOB 1!

I currently have 2 Taurus firearms. A PT99 9mm & a model 94 (9 shot 22) Both have given me nothing but pleasure working like well oiled machines they are. The 9mm feeds any round I stuff in the magazine including mixed factory rounds and lead bullets! 15 rounds mags are easily obtainable as are the current 10 rounders. The 94 is light and accurate enough for rabbits and tin cans. The gun is absoultly reliable with all brands of 22's including the current Wal-Mart specials(both the Winchester & Federal).
I have also fired others Taurus revolvers includins a stainless 85, a Raging bull (if I get a 454 it will be this one!) and their K-frames sized 22. All were excellent revolvers and the price is good as well. I have no problems recommending them to anybody.:)

I have been very happy with my 85UL. I know others have had bad experiences with Taurus, but they have worked for me.
