The Judge is rather questionable in some ways...

The shot shells tend to spread like any gun shot type shell resulting in quite the spread over a short distance... Pretty easy to hit things you might not intend. Its a giant to carry and honestly doesnt have a ton of choices for good holsters.

To me this is more a piece about advertising... useable yes I have a friend who bought one for CCW and has yet to my knowledge to every carry it.. My guess... its just too huge.

The Judge revolver isn't all that good.
However, Taurus makes the Circuit Judge revolver rifle, I imagine it would be more accurate and awesome than the revolver.

either option is going to beat the new home defense shotgun loads of BBs any day, that mass x momentum thing and all.

if you use full power magnums, its going to be a handfull, so will the judge. its simply getting a weapon you can shoot well, get ammo for as cheaply as you can.

38 specials will beat both 45 colt, .410, and 357 magnum ammo in that.

I got a chance to shoot my nephews Judge a couple weeks ago. He won the thing at some event. According to his dad, they immediately had to send it back to Taurus to have the cylinders reamed as it would not chamber .45LC. It's been 100% since they got it back. It's a pretty large chunk of handgun, I can't imagine picking it as a concealed carry weapon. It makes large holes in things very well and could certainly serve as home protection. It is an absolute blast to shoot. Fun enough for me to contemplate getting one myself although I think I'd opt for the S&W Governor instead which should be higher quality and allows for shooting 45ACP via full or partial moon clips.

Gunnut17 Does your name represent your age? If it does, your grammar is better than a lot of older people here.

Considering the two? Cheap is cheap does!

There might be a reason for this do to sales ratio's of the two (Taurus sells more guns) I've heard much worse things about Taurus by far.

TBS, I did have good luck with a new bought Taurus 608, and were not talking about just shooting a few hundred rounds through it, more like shooting a few thousand+ .357s through it.

I voted Chater, or Charter.:D

No, I'm actually thirteen, the 17 is a reference to Glock 17, in hindsight, Gunnut19 may have made more sense.

I own a Judge with a 3 inch chamber. It is a fun gun and I enjoy shooting it alot but if I am going to be honest here I have to say I would not trust mine for self defense.

I had to exchange my origional ones because it would not lock up in single action. I sent it in for repairs and they sent me a different gun (different serial numbers) My new ones has done really well over all but some times the 410 shot shells do not want to come out of the cylinder.

Anyone that questions the lethality of a Judge is full of crap. I have personally seen what my Public Defender with Federals 00buck can do to a whitetail deer we had to put down on a friends deer farm. It was devastating and the deer was shot at 15 feet from the gun. I have shot enough other critters to know it is also a great trail gun that can be loaded with 45lc and buck shot for snakes. I know the shotgun/Judge pistol is new and scarry to some but think of it like fire. Scary at first but incredibly useful when you know how to use it.
I have no love for Taurus but the a Shotgun pistol with specifically designed ammo is a heck of a combination.
