Swiss shooting 2022

Very cool pics and background.
What are those green boxes when shooting rifles? Are they some sort of sound baffle?

Tuesdays and Saturdays are reserved for Rimfire at my club, in order to reduce the noise burden for the neighbourhood

At 50 m, I shot the 1975 Colt SP1 with a CMMG conversion, reliable, accurate and tons of cheap fun

And the Browning / FN trombone pump action

Moved on to the 25 m range and used a P210-1 with a .22lr conversion

We have a couple of new member at the club, including a 27 years young lady. She had shot maybe twice in her life with her sister (an army lieutenant) before joining us in early July. I’ve coached her a bit and lent her some guns as she does not have any yet.

We shot maybe six or eight times together. She produced this group at 25 meters with my 1960 S&W model 17 (offhand)

I asked her to keep going and give me a ten shots group

Needless to say she has great natural skills and a progression speed I haven’t seen before

I spent part of a summer when I was a boy in Crans-Montana over half a century ago; a beautiful area that also has great fishing, caught lots of trout in a lake; umm umm good. That's some great shooting, everything exudes "Swiss precision" about it. ;)

Thanks. A very posh / high end mountain resort and a very pretty place indeed, I’ve been there several times.

So I took the young lady to another outdoor shooting range which allows a broader range of weapons

She shot the Colt M4

And finally back to handguns with a Dan Wesson 15-2 VH in .357 magnum at 25 meters.

She had to aim a bit lower and to the left in order to hit the middle, making it even harder.

And did she hit it !!! 27 yrs young (I said that already), 5’2.5”, 114 lbs. Never shot a .357 Magnum before. I’m speechless

Yesterday was another .22 only session at the local club. I was alone, seems my shooting buddies lost their motivation at the end of this season, it felt like it was my own private range.

I started with rifles, the Ruger precision and Savage Mk II. After checking that they were still well sighted in on paper, I scattered 3 dozen golf balls on the berm 55 meters away, and had a ton of fun making them dance and fly around

05c6fb7873624fc5f8a0bf9d88520668.jpg

I read abt that on a forum. I also had a similar session with our new young members a few weeks ago, the smile on their faces says it all

Then I aspired to some calm, so I installed the Norwegian A-Tec silencer I recently bought

Since I switched from high velocity to standard velocity ammo, the point of impact was 2 inches low and 1 inch to the left, with both rifles. I didn’t feel like messing with the scope settings so I just used some good old Kentucky windage

Nice! Local club around here has a monthly rimfire challenge. manager was telling me that one of the winners puts 40 in the X @100 yards using subsonic for best accuracy. I can't even see that small of a bullseye @ 100 yards!

Took five nice handguns to the range yesterday. It’s open from 5 to 8 pm, but by 7 pm the light vanishes and it gets quite dark

All at 25 meters offhand

Then as it was getting quite dark, I shot a few duel sessions, where the target appears for 3 seconds and disappears for 7. It was an interesting challenge to do this drill in low light conditions.

Today a few friends from our shooting club and I were again invited to a shooting challenge organised by the shooting society of the Lausanne police corps.

5 practice shots (2&3) and then 4 X 5 shots in 5 minutes, 3 minutes, 1 minute and 40 seconds on the ISSF speed target at 25 meters for a total max of 200 points (warm up shots being used in case of a tie)

My weapon of choice in the ordnance division is my 1979 made Sig P210-6 in 7.65 mm parabellum (.30 Luger). The vintage Swiss military ammo is very accurate.

The weather has been nice with really mild temperatures for the season, so I spent some time at the outdoor range today with various toys.

I was not very accurate today, I mostly wanted to have fun without too much concentration (and my glasses were fogging up).

And Lord did I have a ton of fun
