Seems like all we ever hear about is Sig this, Glock that, H&K rules, and 1911 forever on TFL. I am curious to know who has found "other" handguns to be perfectly reliable and acceptable for personal defense, and in fact carry them as their principal CCW weapon. What are they? Thanks for your responses.

Well, Topkick has his Jennings .22 :D

I carry my Ruger P97, IWB, daily.

Dogger, thanks for asking - I carry a
Taurus M445 2" SS 44SP loaded with 200 gr.
Silvertip HPs, with a couple of HKS Speed-
loaders at hand in case the need of a
"refill" ever arises.
Let it be known that I have nothing
against any of the four pistols mentioned
above. Just at the present time, I prefer
carrying a revolver, tho this too will
change.

Happy New Year!!!

ff ...save the 2nd.

I carry a 2" Charter Arms Undercover .38spl. It is extremely accurate. I shot a 16X100 (20 rnds) w/1 center mass 10 ring and 3 head 10 rings during my CCDW class.

I also own a Colt Defender in .45ACP. However, though it is now reliable and I am partial to Colt 1911's, I still prefer the revolver.

BTW, being new here and since you didn't say, what do you carry?

I've carried my littel PA-63 on many backpacking trips, and my FEG hi-power clone has ridden on my belt almost as much as my colts have.

If we can EVER GET a CCW in Denver County I'll probably CCW the PA-63, its a robust little pistol with a good deal of UMPH with the right bullets. Plus I feel confident/competant with it and already bought an IWB holster for it.. if the weather is cool enough for a jacket I'd probably wear a larger pistol in a shoulder holster.

(A lot of guys I know that carry use walther ppk's in 380 or ruger sp-101's in 357, mainly because they are available in stainless)

Occasionally, when the mood strikes, I will carry my wifes S&W model 60 snub in 357.
It actually is a very nice little piece.
Oh, and about the Sig this, Glock that and yes, by George, H&K rules-if you want it to go bang all the time, carry something that always, always, always will.
Those guns got their reputation by deserving it.

I NEVER carry a gun except from my trunk to the target range, but if we had a CCW here in Ohio, my carry gun would be my Taurus 85.

Sarah Brady, Ted Kennedy, Barbara Boxer,
Ed Asner.
Now, Dianne Feinstein DOES carry but doesn't want anyone else to.

My 686 4 in.,while on the bulkie side, gives me a warm feeling when carried. I like my SW 3913TSW much better but my 'smith calls it my
rat gun....

A S&W 642 w/Nyclads, or slicked up S&W 3914 with 147 Gold Dots, depending on what I'm wearing. Soon as my holster gets here, I have a S&W 5904 that I love. Is there is trend there?

Custom-made stainless Beretta 92G Centurion. It's really too big for a CCW but I feel damn good with it on me (it only hurts when I sit down ;)).
