Suffolk County NY handgun License holders

I mentioned it to her and she didn't seem to psyched on it. But it wasn't a like..."no, never in my home...." so I should be able to work at it.

We're working on building a bigger NYS gun board, so far doing OK. Everyone here is encouraged to join in, as we need a good big NYS board to consolidate thinking, information, and activism. http://www.nyshooters.net. California's pro 2A has gotten a lot done by coordinated information and effort through Calguns.net. We need to do the same for NY. (I say "we" to include myself as my wife and I will be moving to Corning, NY in two months.)

Good luck on your move Yellowfin. We are going to entertain this subject on Longislandfirearms.com also. It got some good posts here on TLF!

New member here question about this thread

Hello all, first I would like to say hi, new to the board. My situation is that I lived in suffolk county previously, i just moved last august to Erie County. I will be here for 2 years, my fiancee is going to school here. My background is that about 10 years ago I was convicted of 265.01 I believe it was, crim pos. of a weapon. It was non violent and basically i had brought a gun from out of state and had no idea what an idio i was at the time. Also my drving record is not very good, although in the last 3-4 years I have really not gotten any tickets, because I have been really looking forward to applying for my pistol permit.

My question is, If I am only in erie county for 2 years, which county is more "lenient" to give out permits, should I apply here in Erie, or wait until I move back to suffolk county? Also, If I do get it here in erie, is it still valid when I move back to suffolk?

There was a user on here threewishes, who from the last post I saw was getting a lawyer to fight his denial. If he is reading this, can you update me and let me know the outcome? Thank you guys for your time, and looks like a great place to get some good info here.

Question: If Suffolk County's carry restrictions are "administrative", and violating them could only get your permit pulled... but not result in a "criminal" charge (being not even based on an actual "law"), given the recent SCOTUS ruling, couldn't this situation be easily challenged as Unconstitutional if it were to happen? (And, assuming no other laws were broken.)

Any takers for a "test case"?

Apply in Erie county, no doubt about it. They will most likely issue you the permit. Suffolk - I don't think so.

As far as a New York board, the best one out there is the one at ar15.com:

http://www.ar15.com/forums/forum.html?b=8&f=9

That's my daily hang out with numerous discussion topics concerning New York gun topics and general stuff. Everyone should join!

My suffolk county reference is an air marshal. Trained to shoot and kill on air craft.

Is this a legal reference in SC??
