Subcompact 9 struggle

Sorry for all of the pictures, but until you can actually get to various LGS's to get a feel for things, this might help a little...

Walther P99C AS, Ruger SR9C, Glock 26 (no, I didn't own two each, but simply combined images with larger mags & grip extensions):

Good luck!

Without looking at all the specifications, the Glock 26 looks to be the smallest. That is what I'm looking for. You always do very good comparisons Cyanide.

The short grip on the 26 makes it so much easier to carry and conceal...for me at least. I really like it a lot. Its a great all around range gun and home defense gun too. I have a few 17 and 30 rounds mags as well which are fun to shoot.

Thank you! My apologies I don't have any comparison pictures of my former Sig P250 Subcompact or Springfield XD9 Subcompact Mod 2.

I know it isn't anywhere near anyone's first choice, especially with the crap going on with earlier generation pistols, but I would not rule out the Taurus PT111 Gen 2.

The one I had didn't seem too terribly much larger than the M&P Shield, especially in the grip width. Mine didn't give me any issues and it was nice having 12 + 1 capacity in something that small that I could still get a full three finger grip on.

Since I don't currently have any subcompacts other than my PX4 SC, I will eventually get another RAMI. Just personal preference over Glock (along with others) and, the weight difference isn't any big deal to me with what I currently EDC.

These below are mine, as I couldn't add them in my original reply.

Here's a rough combination of photos I just put together from a site I found online, and a couple of other pictures comparing the Glock 26 to a RAMI, and also the 26 and an SR9C (not mine):

I carried a Gen 3 G26 AIWB for over three years and it was a great gun. Added a 8lb. NY1 trigger spring since it was always pointed at my junk, and I liked the consistent trigger pull it gave. Once I put on some GT5000 grip tape I bought of Amazon, that thing fit GREAT in the hand, and was dead nuts accurate and reliable. I only got rid of it because my first love is steel CZ's, and I sold it to free up money for a CZ-75 Compact. I will probably buy another G26 down the line since I think so highly of it. :)

My wife has a Taurus PT111 G2. It is a striker fired 9mm with a 12 round magazine. She shoots it very well, and honestly if I was looking for a 9mm CCW pistol I very well might buy one for me.

So I'm looking to get a double stack, subcompact 9. I know there are a lot of choices out there, but I'd like to hear your favorite choice, and why. I have been looking at the Glock 26, because parts and all are everywhere. I don't particularly like the gun, but it seems like an obvious choice and very utilitarian.

What are some good choices I'm missing? Other guns around the size of the 26.

The Glocks are fine. I prefer the M&Pc as it has:
1) higher capacity.
2) stainless steel frame. In high humidity environments this can be a factor.
3) grip angle. Some like the Glock grip angle, some don't.

Having said that, I'd suggest any of the "name" brands (S&W, Glock, Springfield etc) will do just fine and down to personal preference. Get thee to a store and put them in your hand, or better yet rent them if you can.

Here's another vote for the Taurus PT111 Milleneum G2. Taurus has taken some well deserved heat, but they got this one right. 12+1 capacity, trigger safety, manual slide safety, chambered round indicator, lifetime warranty.

You can find them on sale for under $220. Nice gun.

Any of the Glocks mentioned here will probably work fine for you if you commit to train & practice your tail off with it. Glock markets their guns better than anybody, although S&W isn't too far behind with the M&P & Shield. However, I think the Sig P320 should take a chunk out of Glock's market; "IMHO" a striker fired Sig that points much the same as my P226 & P228 is a fine idea!
