Subcompact 9 struggle

The recoil on the SCCY can be pretty snappy... not comfortable. Its not a fun gun to shoot. I could handle a box or two fine, but my fiance could not handle more than one mag through it.

I have an M&P9c that I really like. Very nice shooting pistol, and very similar in size to the G26.

I have a shield as well, and it shoots very well for a single stack.

SCCYs is better looking, under $270, and come in many pretty colors and soon out with a .380 for the recoil sensitive people.

My suggestions would be some of those above, so let me add info on triggers. I have a Glock 26 (& a G17), the Springfield XD subcompact in .40S&W, a Kel Tec P11 (& P40), and the S&W Shield (from what I have read, the newer M&P's have triggers more like the Shield - somebody correct me if I'm wrong).

Trigger pulls for the handguns I have are:
Striker fired pistols
S&W Shield 1/2" light takeup, 7# pull for 1/8" to break
SA XD-40 sc 5/8"light takeup , 5.2# pull for 1/4" to break
Glock 1/2" light takeup, 7# pull for 1/4" to break
DAO Pistols
Kel Tec P-11: 8.5#for about 3/4"
Kel Tec P-40: 8#for about 3/4"

Both the SCCY & the Ruger are DAO, so -although they'll likely break at different places - they'll be much longer pulls than the strikers so they should be similar to the Kel Tecs. Again, someone who owns these can post that info.

Take into account that my data are from a sample of only one each, and there will be some minor variation even gun-to-gun of the same model.

Hope that helps some.

I'm a big fan of the P2000SK.

Ditto. Fantastic pistol. Comes in several different triggers... pick your favorite. Shoots like a larger gun, carries like a smaller one, ie; G26. If I were looking for a new CCW it would be this or the similar P30sk.

Really hard to go wrong with any of the usual suspects SR9c,G26,XDm 3.8 compact, FNSc, M&P9c.
My biggest problem with sub-compacts in general is they're too big for a pocket and it's not much harder to carry a compact.

I had a G26, loved that little gun and would highly recommend it, however I bought my girlfriend a M&P9c and for me anyway, it is a bit more accurate and feels a little nicer in my hand.

There are quite a few good double stack sub compacts. I did not see a price range but, saw you don't mind different action types.

Striker: FN FNS Compact, Sig 320 SC, Steyr S9-A1.

Striker DA/SA: Walther P99C-AS

DA/SA: Beretta PX4 SC, HK P2000SK, HK P-30 SK, Sig P224, Sphinx SDP SC.

DAO: HK P2000SK (LEM), HK P-30SK (LEM), Sig 250 SC.

If you are looking for a small 9mm carry gun for self defense only, I agree the SCCY CPX-2 should be considered. Yes it has a long 8-9 lb DAO trigger, but for up-close defense that shouldn't matter. If fact I consider it an advantage for chambered carry without a manual safety, especially for pocket carry.

Some features are:

- Small (4.0" x 5.7" x 1")
- Light (15 oz empty, 21.7 oz fully loaded with 11 rounds)
- High capacity (10+1)
- 3.1" barrel
- Fits all fingers on the grip (with finger extension base)
- Smooth long 8.5 lb DAO with clear reset
- Double strike capability
- No manual safety
- +P capable
- Large bright white dot sights
- Well made in the USA
- Comes with two magazines and four base plates
- Comprehensive life-of-the-gun warranty
- Great customer service
- Inexpensive (paid $265)

Not my first choice for range use but fine for up close self defense.

you have a tons of options. I would go into a few stores and try carrying the guns. When I was searching the stores would let me try holsters and conceal the guns and walk around the store so that I could get a feeling for what it would be like. I ended up with the glock 26 for IWB winter carry and a ruger LCP for pocket/summer carry. I tried probably 20+ different guns with various holsters before getting either of those. Also, when you go to look, wear your normal everyday clothes so that you can see what its like to carry with your current outfits. different guns/holsters will fit different people better. There is no perfect option that will work for everyone as we are all shaped differently and wear different types of clothes.

One of the lessons I learned from my experience was that grip was what printed on my IWB carry because I am small framed, this put the glock 26 at the top of my list. For pocket carry I realized that my pockets were way too small for any of the single stack 9s or even the glock 42. Thus the ruger/bodyguard/keltecs were all that would work. So go and try them. Its the only way to know. From our responses you should be gathering a list of guns to go check out but no one can tell exactly what is best for you.

Put 10,000 rounds through a P11 and see whats left!

A new pistol if needed . They have a life time warranty.

I have a PF-9 on hip at present . less than 1lb loaded forget its their. Can carry in pocket if you wish . Mag extension can be bought.

6 Kt in my house now . Favorite P-32 carry of the women in house.

I am small framed as well. I normally carry my M&P .40 FS but I do have to be mindful of the grip.

As for pocket carry, I don't think it's for me. Maybe if I had a small .380 or something. I recently sold a .40 Shield and I pocket carried it. It would've made a nice IWB belt gun if I didn't mind the recoil. I can't get over the feeling like I'm carrying a brick in my pocket feeling.

I'm probably going to go with the G26.

CZ 2075 RAMI. Very similar in size to the G26 although a little heavier. Great little shooter and comes with a 10 & 14 round magazine. Mine has been 100% reliable with approx 500 rounds so far.

I just bought a CZ85B actually. I haven't picked it up yet but if I like it enough maybe I'll see if I can find a RAMI.
