Stupid dilemma I've gotten myself into..

Why do women always have to take our dreams and make them theirs?
lol... don't you know? women are dream killers.

Anyways, why do YOU have to buy two? Can't she buy her own?

Do you like Glocks ?

Well..this conversation has ended pretty much.. everyone is out of the PPQ in 9mm... so now it seems I have a bunch of time to think about it.

Also, guns you have that the spouse doesnt know you have are guns her attorney cannot demand as part of a divorce. Just sayin.

Amen to that.

Good advice Boatme98..But of even greater concern to me anyway..perhaps I am old fashoned..or just damm cautious!..is what Apom said in the third paragraph..."my current girlfriend"..sounds kind of temperal doesn't it? Now this is just me, but I'll be dammed if I would spend that kind of denero on anyone but a wife!..and as statistics show..that is not a sure bet these days!
Would really be P.O. if I happend to see HER current boyfriend at the range enjoying a handgun I bought!

Okay "current" was definitely the wrong word to use in my original post. I really want to spend the rest of my life with her. She supports my hobby(s). In return I get to do cool stuff like cleaning dishes, mowing the yard, painting the house, taking the trash out, taking out the recycles, shopping with her, giving her back rubs, giving her foot rubs, folding the laundry, dusting, vacumming, washing the dog, walking the dog, occasionally cooking (Foreman grill), and always giving positive feedback regarding her looks and weight.

Oh... did I say that she supports my hobby(s)? :)

+1 on getting two PPQ's. Nothing wrong with having the same pistol if you both like it that much.

And yes, that is a blessing to have a gf who's into firearms

I like having two "or more" of the same guns. If I could do it over I would have several of the same semi autos and several of the same revolvers. in 9mm and 38 special.

Here is your chance. Get her the PPQ ... you wil get to shoot it occasionally. Then, since you made that horrific sacrifice letting her have your pistol, get yourself a pistol she probably won't shoot, like a Performance Center SW1911. :)

Be sure to remind her occasionally that she got your pistol.

Apom

first its matching guns....

then its matching shirts......

you don't wanna know whats next.

but hey enjoy the guns, at least she will know how to handle yours if trouble ever happens.

Ordered the PPQ Monday morning. My FFL dealer got it on Wedsnesday.. picked it up Thursday.. heading to range this weekend to try it out..

Boy it sure is lighter than my cz75b.

I've said this before on this forum, I'll say it again...According to astronomy, when you wish upon a star you're actually a few million years late.
The star is dead, just like your dreams.

I defy you stars.

Get two. It will save a lot of discontent later on.

From a self defense situation it makes good sense. You have interchangeable mags. nothing makes the hair stand up than grabbing the wrong mag in a defensive situation.

APOM,
I may have missed it in the posts before, but let me interject a thought.

As an old guy, the term girl-friend, even "long-term girl friend" implies a less than permanent relationship. Your definitions are your own, so forgive me for suggestiong this...lend her your gun when she wants to shoot. Encourage her if she decides to buy her own. Buy ammo for the two of you to shoot together, but don't invest in a major purchase if there is any possibility that your relationship will diminish in the future.

I had a 7 year period between my first and second marriages that came during my 50th birthday range... I 'dated' and shopped during that period, looking for a new 'permanent partner'. It cost quite a bit for me to discover that 'shopping for a companion' was very expensive, unless I put some controls on my budget myself. I did. Now, after 18 years in marriage #2, I think I made a good choice. but I didn't buy her a gun until some time after we were married !!!:D:D:D

as long as its realistic.

my wife and I went shopping for her CCW gun. She shot a lot of guns and decided she liked the Desert Eagle in 357 magnum. I knew she would not carry it even though it is a "fun" and "cool" gun.

Well another costumer there said she if she likes the gun I should get it and be thankful she enjoys shooting and wants to defend her self. She quickly backed him up and I relented. Long story short she carried the gun about 6 hours in a purse and has never carried it since.

I finally ignored every ones advise and "recommended" a few good CCW choices for her. She ended up picking the Sig P238. She now carries it every day. The Desert Eagle latter ended up at a pawn shop when we went through some financial hardships a few years back.

Moral of the story is dont let the wife pick out her own CCW the one she likes is not practical and you know it will not work,

***!!! That is my gun. I want that gun.

I'm a man of variety. Should I just buy 2 of the same gun? Should I add another model to the collection? Why do women always have to take our dreams and make them theirs?

You obviously are afraid she will out shoot you ! Mine did with one of my vaforites. Tough love is like it or lump it and stop the whining, its so emaransing to see a man do that.

Or as my wife once said, you try being a women!

Count your blessing she wants a gun and likes to shoot.

Man after reading a few other's posts on here I feel extremely lucky my girlfriend loves going to the range as much as I do. (I can even talk her into helping clean the "house guns" every once in a while.) We make it a point to not touch each others CCW's though. I remember bringing home my Keltec Sub2K .40 and her throwing a fit but after we went to the range I was faced with "you know this is MINE now, right?" Just last month I bit the bullet and caved in to new patio furniture on the grounds I get one "no questions asked" gun purchase... now I'm just waiting on paperwork to clear on my Nickel Plated MAC 10!

In response to the OP, I would buy one to start with in case one of you change your mind after shooting it a bit. If not then by all means there is no shame in having a "his & hers" set, especially if you differentiate them as someone else suggested via different color schemes (Black/nickle, Pink/Black etc)... would defantly be a good Ice breaker at the range IMO.
