Springer Xd or Glock

My brother's XD9 Service model is the most accurate gun I've ever shot. I currently carry a Mod 2 9mm or CZ Rami or PCR D and they are extremely accurate, but my brother's gun was something else!

I've shot the XD(M) 4.5 and Glock 17 back-to-back on numerous occasions. Both are mechanically accurate and reliable.

The XD(M) is more nicely finished, feels better in hand, has better stock sights, a better trigger feel, and better feeling controls.

But the Glock shoots better for me for some reason, accessories and spare parts are endless and easily obtained, and I don't care at all for the grip safety of the XD series.

So I would go with the Glock every time.

All subjective.

I prefer Glock stock triggers and find them better in the hand over XD.

Both great guns though.

Some one will surely flame me for this but, all other things being equal, which they pretty much are between the glock and the Xd, which do YOU shoot better?

No. Not really.

The fit & finish of the XDM is objectively better - especially in terms of the minimal polymer mold marks versus the Glock, and the additional machining steps to the slide. The slide finish also seems to be more durable than the unfortunate "matte" finish on recent Glock slides, which is far less durable than the smoother finish of older Glocks.

As far as stock pistols sights, STEEL > PLASTIC. Every time. Standard Glock sights are a placeholder at best, until you can put quality sights on the pistol. Fortunately, OEM Glock night sights are inexpensive and quite excellent.

As far as feeling better in the hand - that is a subjective statement, but the vast majority would a agree that the smoother, crisper trigger of the XDM is superior in feel. The Glock reset is more tactile, though.

All that said, you apparently missed where I said that, out of these two pistols, I prefer the Glock.

^ to me the trigger on the XDm is mushier than that of the Glock. I still liked the XDm though.

Only you can decide which is the better pistol for you. Either one will serve you equally well, in my view.

After years of shooting and carrying Glocks (and a short experience with an XD), mine are mostly safe queens these days. I much prefer the Sig P320s (in various sizes and calibers) and the M&Ps (full size and compacts) now.

If I was starting from scratch today, with the experience I've had over the years, I probably wouldn't own any Glocks or XDs. (Well, I probably would have a 17 and a 19 on hand, just because they are such standards - and good pistols. But I rarely shoot or carry 9mm anyway.) M&Ps and P320s would be (and are) my choice in .40 and .45.

I've only owned 2 XDs, which I still have. I have owned several Glocks and currently only own 1.

I have put just shy of 10,000 rounds through my 9mm XD and the only issues I had were wearing out the recoil spring and replacing the striker roll pin.

Both XD and Glocks are great guns and are extremely reliable. I would make my decision on how I shot them over anything else.

I have noticed no difference in fit and finish between my Glocks and my XDm (I no longer have). At least not enough I would call it objectively better. I have the "matte" "frying pan" and old tennifer glocks.

Why? Because they might hold up better under hard use? I have shot well used Gen 1 and 2 Glock 17's with stock sights that don't seem any worse for the wear. I happen to like the "ball in cup" sight picture just fine, and don't find night sights an overly necessary thing on most guns. In low light I prefer a flashlight.

Basing on... what? XDm triggers are smooth, but they break too far back in the pull for my preference. Hence the reason I no longer have XD's (or SIG for that matter). I know more than a few shooters who agree with this issue.

Again, both good, and I know you said you shoot the Glock better. I'm just saying that none of the above qualities are measurably, objectively, superior as noted. Subjective matters, just to the individual user, not a blanket statement as a whole.

YMMV, naturally (the whole point of the post, I suppose :D)
