spare ammo for concealed carry?

Speedloaders in my left pocket. I use both the normal HKS and that funky rubber one, I forget what it's called. The rubber one is a bit slimmer overall, so it's what I have in my pocket most of the time. I was afraid the rounds would work loose, but so far, I haven't had a single round come out at all, even when the loader was sharing space with car keys and pocket change.
(I generally try to keep it by itself in an empty pocket, but you know how that goes.)

loops?

A friend of mine who runs a mini-storage came across this black leather piece six inches long by three inches tall that holds twelve rounds of .38/.357 in loops. Even when wearing my tightest pretty-boy shirt, you can't see any trace of it on my hip/waist at all. When I bend down (wearing it anywhere from 3 to 9 o'clock), you can see about the bottom inch of the piece, which is leather and the tips of .357 magnums.

I think this solution would be ideal (for me) if it weren't as tall. If somebody makes a piece that's about six inches by two inches with twelve loops that would be right up my alley. An item like this is a big deal for someone like me who prefers revolvers but has very limited real estate on a twenty-nine inch waist. I'm a little over 5' 10" and a little under 160lbs. For me, clothes that fit tend to fit close.

Also, on the back the leather thing says "B4AW" above an oval containing "Bucheimer / L.A. Calif. / Clark".

Edit: it's this

I carry a glock mag in my front pocket while hiking... doesn't bugger me at all, but then again when you travel on foot more than in a car, you learn to fill all unused spaces :)

I use to carry speed loaders until I found out they weren't. I now use a cartridge pack which carry 6 rounds, 2x2x2, which I find a little bit faster to load than the speed strips. I guess the fastest and easy thing would be to carry a BUG. Nothing beats a New York reload unless your name is Jerry. hi.

The 12-round belt loop carrier you found is/was made by Buckheimer for police duty work. Typically they fit on the wide police duty gunbelts.
If you look around, you'll probably find the 6-round carriers too. These hold six rounds of .38/357 and snap on over smaller width belts.

I always carry a speed loader or two when I carry my revolvers. They are the fastest for me because I'm most familiar with them. Bulk - not nearly bad enough to worry about. Apeed strips lie flatter, but I'm not nearly as fast with 'em - would carry one in addition to a speed loader if I had any. Just for quicker administrative loading - speed loader is for when it has to be done quickly.

2x2x2

Yep BillCA , after a little research (i.e. reading the post above mine) I see that DeSantis and Galco make some relatively slim looking '2x2x2' bullet case that rides on your belt. That might be the ticket.

I carry a .45 acp snubnose 5-shot loaded with 230 grain Golden Sabers in a moonclip, I carry a single stack 1911 mag with an extra 7 rds (2 extra in case I fumble one and it falls to ground, I don't have to stop reloading to pick it up) that I can thumb into the cylinder for reloading. Not the fastest but it works, although I might have trouble getting the second five out due to not having a moonclip. I figure that if I need more then 10 rds of .45, I need to get the hell out of there anyways.

If I thought I needed more than 1 cylinderfull,

I'd be carrying a spare gun, not a "speedload" for my revolver.

Speedloaders on medium or small frame revolvers are not bulky at all. I carry a medium size revolver and carry two speedloaders in my pocket and two on my belt in a pouch. From .32 mag .431PD speedloaders to Python speedloaders, they don't stick out and aren't uncomfortable.

A speedloader in the pocket is bulky? No more bulky than a set of keys.

I carry a snubby in the right pocket in an Uncle Mike's holster, and a speedloader in the same pocket. Actually breaks up any printing from the gun. Just looks like a full pocket.

Sometimes, I will carry a 4" revolver, strong side hip, and I just leave the snub in my pocket. If I didn't have the snubby, I'd just carry a couple of speedloaders in the pocket.

I put a loaded five shot speed loader in my pocket and had people guess what was in it. Keys, roll of film, fruit rollup, watch, golf ball were some of the answers. But no one guessed speed loader. Only trained gun people have a chance of spotting these things. The sheep are oblivious to everything unless it's in their face.

Reload

I carry a 2in. Taurus .45 ACP. I am not comfortable carrying either loose ammo or the moon clip in my pocket. Just bought an Uncle Mike's black speedloader holder for a single speedloader. It looks like it will work, looks a lot like a cell phone carrier or dozens of the other things people carry on their belts now. I plan to carry it upside down so the moon clip falls out into my hand. Will let you know how it tests out, but I see no reason it would not work for most speedloaders, too.

Two speed loaders in a nylon pouch on a belt on the off hand side. I'm thinking about the speed strips, too for pocket carry. (.357mag/38spl.)
Carry this setup at the range to practice using it.

dogngun,

You carry your spares on your weak hand side?
I take it that you don't use your weak hand to cradle the gun during a reload either.

I don't even bother to carry extra, the way I see it it will happen fast and be over just as fast.Do you really think you will have time to reload I don't.If you are up against that many you won't ever have the chance to reload

George Clooney was able to reload his revolver in From Dusk to Dawn... :D

I bought a wallet style plastic case to hold my cartridges.

Drop pouches??

Hi Y'all,

A few years back, when the Sherriff's department was changing to Glocks,
one of the local gunstores had a big box of brown, basket-weave drop-
pouches. They hold 6 rnds. of .357mag. in each side. So I bought about 8 or 10 of them, thinking they might come in handy. They do.
I c'n load about as quick from them as from speed loaders, almost.
I carry one full of .357's in my console. And, another is under the seat, of my truck, w/ 5, .45LC's, in case I'm carrying the Taurus mod.450. Good reloads for my pistol caliber Winchesters, too.

They are handy. And, if you c'n get them for a dollar each like I did,
well worth the money. I wonder if they still make drop-pouches w/
a snap opener on top & a snap opener on the bottom. I bet Folks
would be happy to buy them.

Have a good-un.

Summer Carrying and spare ammo

I was back down South not too long ago to the original homestead and in this picture in the heat of swampy GA Coastal summer, I am packing the following in sneakers, shorts, and a tucked-in button-down shirt in mid 90s weather.... I don't see any noticeable bulges, nor did anyone on the Island give me a second glance.

S&W M-66/2 3" in a IWB tucked in on the strong-side, 2 Comp I speedloaders in front left pocket with keys, wallet in right front pocket. S&W M-10 (2") in Thunderwear. Total of 2 K-frames, 12 ready-use rounds, 2 speedloaders, 24 rounds of 158 LSWC-HP.
