Something unusual at the range

I hate revolvers
I hate tea, so what's your point?

Anyone think it odd that a fellow who named himself after a single-action revolver era lever-action gun has that attitude?

To W-73, do you have a reason why that you would care to share?

I think I will understand if you don't Kind of like the reason come people hate clowns, I suppose.

I absolutely love revolvers actually. If you saw more of my posts, you'd know better. More than half of my handguns are revolvers. I have all different types. There is nothing like a wheel gun. I do have a soft spot for certain autos, such as those which are historically significant.

I really want a revolver because I don't have one and I like 'em. I have two autoloaders (9 and 40) so I'm thinking about selling my Sigma 9mm and use the money toward a revolver. I don't know what though, maybe a 38.

I like to start new shooters off with my Remington cap and ball revolver or my Dixie gunworks Kentucky pistol.

The course of shooting is slower paced and allows the student to pickup the fundamentals quicker.

Auto with high capacity mags cause them to go holly wood and spray.

I am not a revolver or auto phile. I just like to shoot and really don't care what platform I shoot.

Oh no, you don't get off that easy, you have to come up with a really good alibi for why any sane man would write such a phrase. You are sane...right?

I go to my local range in the afternoon. The morning crowd has left and I can snag brass without going into someones range. Mostly I see 9mm and 40 S&W that gets skipped, but will grab any .45 or .38 brass laying around. Seems like 80-85% of brass is from an auto loader, and yes, I too roll my eyes at the Mall Ninja with his Kmart cammie flaps who makes powder horn jokes when I go to shoot my S&W Model 10-8 or my Model 22 Classic. Then all six shoots go into the bulls eye, while his ninja glock tacti-cool lazer sites can't hit as well. Go figure.

model 60 vs model 19

I am at a crossroads and trying to decide. I currently have a 642 and a 4" model 13. I am thinking of adding another revolver to my carry rotation. I like shoot the 13 better than any other gun I own. I shoot the 642 quite well. I am looking at the 60 because I feel the added weight will help me even more. I am thinking the 19 because being a snub I could carry it appendix and I know I would shoot it close to the 13. One being 38 and be 38/357 isnt a big deal. I am perfectly happy with 5/6 38 special before reload. I like the SA option on both of these. While I would probably not use it for self defense it has its place with small animals etc. What are your thoughts? I carry a Glock 26 most days now if that gives an idea of weight I am used to. sorry tried to move to start new thread

Revolvers are works of art. My father in law got me hooked on them. Iguess I am an old soul. The guns I dream about are all revolvers. Like a Nickle saa. 357 with ivory grips...or a s&w 586L-comp....or a colt python......leave the autos for fanboys and tacticool crap. I have 9mm auto.....but I just rides on my glove box getting beat up while the wheel guns get fondled and shot.

I can see why revolvers don't get much action at the range. For fun shooting the more bullets you can shoot before reloading the better IMO. I only have one revolver and that is only because they do not make a semi auto for that caliber (S&W 500). If they made a high cap semi auto for that round I would trade the revolver for it in a minute. Don't get me wrong, my revolver is my number one handgun that I waited 2 years before I could afford to get it. I would not hesitate to get rid of my other handguns before the 500 if it came down to it. I am just saying, if they had a semi auto equivalent with a larger cap, it would be gone. 5 bullets goes way to fast (a couple seconds in some cases), 10 would be a little better. I also shoot at an unregulated range so I can have a little more fun than most ranges where you have to wait at least a second between shots. Like others have said too; you will usually find at least double the semi autos at the gun store than revolvers. Like anything else, most people are going to buy the product that has a large selection for them to choose from and is also being pushed by the salesman. It is kind of weird because when I was younger, all I could think about was getting a revolver. Now all I want are semi autos. Taste changes over the years I suppose.

If I really want to stick out, I'll take this to the range. Sometimes I even invite other folks to shoot it.

My father's 1962 Super Single Six in '22 LR (and 22 Mag) is probably one of the most fun to shoot of our combined collections. The action is so smooth and assured. Drawing the hammer smoothly on each shot and taking your time. I love it. Not to mention the bluing is deeper than the ocean and the fit/finish can only be envied by most comparisons.

I like my autos, but i love revolvers :)
