So, you're parachuting behind enemy lines..

The last time I had to parachute behind enemy lines they only allowed me a swiss army knife. Killed two with the toothpick, one with the corkscrew and another with the tweezers. Can't tell you how because it's National Security. ;)

So if I only had one option for a handgun it would be P228. 9mm is by far the easiest ammo to pick up worldwide.

The best weapon for self defense is the one you have when the need arises!

I'm glad this question is fiction.

Fact is this. 1968 I was humping a M-60 in the Central Highlands of Vietnam. I also carried a 45 Govt. good chow weapon.

One evening when the Huey brought in hot chow one of my buddies asked to use my 45 to get the food instead of carrying his 16.

When he came back he asked me if I thought the 45 would shoot. My answer was, I quess but I only had one magazine for it away.

My thoughts were this. If the M-60 jammed and couldn't be cleared or If I've expanded all the 60 ammo. We would be in deep trouble (major firefight) I would of looked for a 16 to continue the fight.

A couple months later you had the option of not carrying the 45 I kept mine still made a good chow gun.

My advice is this if you're going to a gunfight take a rifle.

BUT if I had to make a choice it would be a Browning Hi-Power 9mm Para.

Happy 4th everybody.

Whooo Weeee.. Look at all them Glock M-20's in 10mm. Don't ya just love it!! :)

I'll cast my vote for My Glock M-20. For simplicity, reliability, accuracy, hi - round capacity = Glock fine combat weapon.

On top of that add 10mm = powerful, flat shooter, good ammo selection.

I would go with a .45 of some kind. Probably the time proven Colt 1911. Get some of those Hi-Cap mags that are out there, and maybe one of those drum magazines that I have seen for sale on internet auctions. I would get some really hot JHP's.

Steyer TMP, Tactical Machine Pistol.

You can carry it in a holster, its full auto and you actually hit something with it if you had to....

CZ-75, 9mm FMJ, a few hi caps, and a hoe.

The CZ keeps me from being easy pickings by native riff-raff.

The hoe is to use when they capture me and put me to work in the Gulag 'cause there ain't no way you're going home just packing a pistol. All you're doing is delaying the inevitable.

But if I had to try it, the CZ would do as well as any other--reliable, accurate, hi-cap. Hey...how about a Walther P-38?

Take the long way home...

Something in 9mm. Or whatever the local army carries for resupply. Of Course you would never get me to jump out of the airplane so the argument is moot

I'd carry a big 'ol Desert Eagle Mk whatever with no ammo and a quiet pair of boots, so I could sneak up on the nearest BG and give him a big clonk upside the head. Then I'd take his AK, Czech, AR, or whatever he was packin. Wouldn't take a Glock because they wouldn't knock him out when I clonked him on the noggin ;)

Glock 19 with Meps on it with 2 X 30rd mags and 6 X 15 rounders with the +2 extensions on them. Loaded with +P+. I'd go with 9mm because it's one of the most prevalent rounds for a military side arm. Of course IF I knew ahead of time what the enemy was packing for pistols I might decide on getting the same thing they have.

I love what if questions. :)

Walk softly and carry a big stick (Yeah I know I stole it)

Shoulder stocked IHP with supressor and my FS "Limey sticker". The job is to rondevous and run. Not be a Riotous Rambo. ;)

Cheers,

The reliability/durability issue pretty much narrows it down to the Glock of you choice. Mine would be a Glock 21, .45acp with 6 high cap mags. If not the Glock then my Kimber. .45acp. for a rifle an M-14/M1A.

HOLY JOHN MOSES BROWNING!

I did say that 50 rounds would be fired first by a a competent shooter you trusted absolutely...and of 37 replies only 3 go with the 1911!

Rex Feral tops the list with a Wilson CQB (Rex, you've got class) Rocky Road puts his trust in a high quality 1911 (Kimber, Springfield or pre 1970 Colt) and Mr. Blonde commits what can only be described as an act of pure faith on the skill of J.M.B.

Makes one wonder where are all the 1911 worshippers lurking?
