So what's your Truck/Car Gun?

I know some of you don't need a car/truck gun because you are always carrying, but I live in Georgia and there are certain places we can't take a gun. I can't carry into a sporting event for one. If I go into Atlanta for a game and don't get out til 10:30 or 11 at night I at least like to have a gun with me on the way home. I'd love to have one while walking to and from the game, but I can't legally do that.

Right now I'll leave the GP100 in the truck, but that's really too expensive of a gun for me to not care if it gets stolen. I am thinking a Hi-Point might do the trick.

There are way to many break in's in my area for me to feel comfortable keeping a car gun. In fact, aside from the A4 im driving now, every car I've owned has been vandalized, backed into or broken into.

I just purchased this POS for $90. It's an ugly mother but it shoots straight and has a nice trigger pull. I'm throwing it under the seat of my f150 for firewood trips. Ruby Extra 38 spec.

Kudos to you guys with vehicle safes, but still ...
It's probably just as easy to steal the entire truck/car.
I'm just say'n.

True, but those are two different type of criminals. One's a car thief and is selling the car. The other is just a smash and grab petty thief.

Unfortunately I don't have a concealed weapons permit so I can't carry loaded in my car. What I do do is carry my Smith & Wesson 442 in a locked case in my car's trunk with a speep loader of ammo next to it. On the desert, if
I need to stop and get out of my car, I load the pistol and I carry it exposed. My method works when my wife withdraws money after dark at an ATM.

Iowa just became a "shall issue" state for the CCW along with that they alloowed uncaseda nd loaded long guns in the vehicle if you have a CCW. That being said, I leave a 22 rifle in the farm truck for shooting whatever critter needs shot. The gun in the vehicle is only there when I go into "do not carry" locations.

I dont have a car/truck gun. Just whatever I may be carrying that day. I have one of the lockboxes with the cable. I feel that (no stats to support) that many/most of the thefts from vehicles are a crime based on the opportunity more so then planning and bringing bolt cutters. Even if they do plan I would suspect that they would bring just wire cutters as they are easier to conceal/ditch and will get them the electronics they are after. I mainly use the box like others have said, if I can't carry in somewhere that I wasn't planning.

I do however have fixed blade knives in both cars. I feel it's good to be prepared and have them within reach. I am planning on figuring out some way to secure the sheaths so they won't get tossed out of reach in the event of an accident.

Taurus steel 85 and a speedloader for reloads ... I rarely use my car outside our little town (my wife hates trying to get in and out of my Miata and refuses to drive it, a bonus in my book). If I'm going someplace where I can't carry, the gun's in the glovebox, locked when I'm not in the car. If I'm armed (pocket or belt), the 85 stays home, hidden in the garage.

i rock the xdm 45 in the center console of my truck in a mounted holster rig. the rig is universal and will accept any paddle or belt holster. this also allows me to lock the gun in the holster to the mounted rig.

My "truck gun" for my truck will be a Marlin in .44 magnum that I am going to get in a few months, but as others have mentioned, I won't leave it there when I am out of the truck. Here in Idaho, I feel confident it will give me adequate protection for just about everything out there including the two legged kind.

C9. Ugly and heavy, but reliable, reasonably accurate, minimum maintenance, and practically indestructible. I paid $99 at a gun show, making it the cheapest gun I've bought in 15 years by a factor of four.

I'm working on putting a fingerprint read single pistol safe into the bottom of the dash in my Durango. when done it should be completely invisible to everyone but my wife and I. I'll keep my current "truck gun" a Glock 22 in there, and I'll leave my tricked out AK in the little hidden compartment in the cargo area behind the back seat.
