So what's your Truck/Car Gun?

My CCW is my Vehicle, and Home Protection. All my other guns stay locked in a Safe. I don't want someone breaking into my vehicle or home, and getting my guns, then shooting me with them. :(

The only time I carry a dedicated car gun is on a road trip. Then it is a Calico 9mm carbine with 100 round and 50 round magazines and it is equiped with a laser. When covering a lot of miles I tend to drive at night thereby avoiding traffic in the larger cities. The gun can be fired just about any direction out the sunroof by tracking the laser dot front, side, or back (via rear view mirror). The Calico replaced a Steyr GB.

@Phatspeed7x-- Im with you on NOT keeping a hidden gun in your vehicle. The same with me the gun is on me and come with me it never stays in my car unless I cant carry in a building. In that case I have a hidden spot you have to be Harry Houdini to find and open the bolted safe. The safe is awesome because its push button and people thing its a couple digit combo when in reality you hold 2 numbers at the same time to open it :). You hold them 1 second and its open.

My EDC is a Ruger SP101, .357 mag.

Behind the seat in my Ranger pickup is an old beater Mossberg 12 ga. Cruiser, short brrl., loaded with 00 & #4 buck. I take 'er out & wipe 'er down with a silicone cloth, every once in a while.
I Winter I don't leave it in the truck, because it picks up moisture & rust too easily.

I highly don't suggest leaving a loaded or unloaded gun in a vehicle.

If by some chance your vehicle is broken into...But, I when I travel, as a back-up gun in my Pick-Up, I keep a Bersa Thunder .380 compact with two extra magazines. Loaded with Federal Hydra Shock JHP.
Very reliable and easy size to handle.
I do not like a bigr clumsy gun in a small restricted compartment.

Those regions where a a "truck/car gun" may make sense are the same regions where you probably shouldn't leave a gun in a truck/car unattended.
Ahh, the irony. :D

Kudos to you guys with vehicle safes, but still ...
It's probably just as easy to steal the entire truck/car.
I'm just say'n.

either a S&W M58 or Ruger MKII in the center console of my truck. Marlin M60 in the toolbox. a beat up old 870 joins it during hunting season. In a car usually a Ruger P94 under the drivers seat or jammed between the drivers seat and the center seat/console. Before you beat me up over the long guns in my toolbox, my truck spends 90% of it's time in my gated community or my farm.

I don't keep a truck/car gun. I however do carry everyday. When I leave the truck the gun goes with me... normaly I carry a makarov. But today I have my glock36 and a extra mag. On long trips I carry a backpack with some supplies with a sa xd.45acp flashlight and crkt polkowski companion in th back seat .

On the post...

I don't know if will constantly have a dedicated car gun in my car. I am doing so now but need to put it somewhere I can get to it better but right now it is hard to reach (by anyone). It is a Phoenix Arms .22 LR I bought off of a friend at a good price ($50).

It is in a pelican case, sealed in a plastic bag with a dessicant insert and cable locked under the spare. It is there right now as a BOB gun since I have a BOB in the trunk with about 200 rounds of ammo.

The reason I went with the .22LR is two reasons: Small with small ammo so I can conceal it easily while carrying lots of ammo and because I am an LEO so I 99% of the time have a Glock 23 on my hip with a couple of extra mags.
