You all speak as one voice and you do it eloquently.

This is the most mature, convincing thread in favor of RKBA I've read in a long time, and that's because there's no bleating about the Second, just honest men showing the lengths they will go to in order to preserve their rights. Did I mention I was impressed because I am.

I'll ask just one thing of you all. When that "day" comes, and believe me folks it really will, in one shape or another and I'm not being defeatest here, remember what you said here, because where you lead others will follow, and maybe, just maybe, we'll see a day of these antis yet.

Isn't the answer obvious? GET THE HELL OUT OF THERE. Move to a gun-friendly state, where there's strength in numbers. If you're losing the war, you retreat in order to re-inforce your troops. Come to OK, TX (anywhere in Dixie, really) or other gun-friendly places where your vote WILL count. Then, we'll have a stark contrast between states, so if we ultimately lose the battle at the federal level, we can secede from the union, hopefully peaceably, but perhaps with force if necessary.

I still think the 1918 Finnish solution is preferable, if only if legal and PR challenges fail. Trouble is, in part, the large part of the population who feel themselves beholden to the "hand that feeds them" (with our tax money) and is conditioned to believe MinTruth.

Having come here from the USSR, I am still tired from the move and don't feel like going anywhere. Then there's a matter of having to return the Sebenza to the TFL friends should I fail in my duty as a US citizen. I am fond of that knife and would like to keep it, with honor.

The problem is, if everyone is waiting for everyone else to be the first to grab their gun... then no one will grab their gun until it's too late. In order for there to be a "first one", someone has to "grab their gun" even though they know that no one else has yet done so, and that no one else will be able to help them before it's too late. The first few to "grab their gun" will not succeed, and probably not survive.

That's why government has such a huge advantage -- the first few will fight alone, and most will die, never knowing if their fight was enough to inspire those left behind to rise up as well. Deciding to be a martyr, and perhaps an unsuccessful martyr, is not an easy choice.

& yup, it's been (till most recently acelerated) slowly enough that many of us don't realize how bad it is (especially compared to just a coupla tens of years ago).

& I think here's where PR & I have to disagree.

It doesn't. It has inspired many - in our own ranks & more polititians as well. Big difference between a rally and a demonstration.

Never yet and it will stay that way. The vast majority of the rank & file are absolutely on our side. We strive, in every aspect, to remain absolutely law-abiding & are respected highly by that rank & file.

& besides, who said anything about being unarmed?

We do bark quite loudly & have yet to have to bite. May that day be put off for a long, long time. The resolve is there however such as required and it will not be us that starts the cop-biting.

Too true. Still, I'm of the belief that we actually have to attempt to regain our freedoms (a very sadly lacking idea these days seemingly) through every peaceful, effective way possible.

That is the way outlined in the Declaration and in our Constitution. Only after having attempted every legal venue will we be justified in actually throwing off the yoke of tyranny. Only then.

Unintended Consequences is must reading for any considering any form of "activity" - ahem - & I'll have to pick up the other mentioned by PR.

One thing not mentioned in UC/JR's book, however, was any sort of effective, legal resistance prior to "the events." Was a lot of bitchin' (we're doing that) until forced into "action." I highly doubt of the "special favorable events" that were allowed in the book nor the outcome. Much too "clean," if you will, too pat & happy.

I've no doubt about the highly likely outcome of our own inactivity. I cannot go there till all legal avenues are exhausted but I will not move from what I choose as my home regardless of what silly laws are passed.

& I can't comment on anything beyond that because obviously the mere fact of not "obeying" would be endorsing an illegal activity which would be rightly struck from the boards here at TFL. "sides, it may be construed as conspiracy and detailing any private security concerns so in the open is silly.
 
A couple things here. 1. Massive non-compliance is already on the books in NJ. Canada is following suit. It is immoral and illegal to turn your guns in. They should be properly cashed for the time when they will be called upon per Abraham Lincoln and the intent of the 2nd amendment (duck season- JUST KIDDING ; ) Fourth and fifth amendments will protect you from further search. Once those go, the balloon is going up anyway. Neat how that works, huh? I see the 2nd as a built-in safety valve. IT IS ALREADY IN PLACE. Once the populace is armed, the FF knew that there was no putting the Genie back in the bottle. They would NOT be surprised by what is happening today. Someone asked BF what kind of country he had wrought. He said, "A Republic, if you can keep it!". They would definitely say, don't be wussied, use the tools we left you. For now though, vote Bush. Better to fight the cold war than a hot one.
 
Paul Revere, an EXCELLENT post! I couldn't agree more. Eventually it WILL come to a shooting war, but I doubt that many, if any, of us will live to see it because it's still quite a long way off.

I'd like to say I'd kill the first few g-thugs I could hit who came to take my weapons, and then save a round for myself, but unless or until I'm in that situation, whatever I say would be pure conjecture.

If (when) it gets to that point, what's the use in going on? I love life, but nothing gets me more angry than a government, or one of its agents, telling me I can't do this or I must do that when I have done nothing wrong. I just want to live my life, the only one I'm ever going to get, leave others alone and be left alone. Is that too much to ask?

I guess the best way for me to answer the question is to say what I (we) should be doing now to prepare for this eventuality.

I think the most effective immediate response would be a rally of offended citizens at the steps of the statehouse. If a large enough crowd (200,000 +) could be gathered and kept there until the legislature rescinded the ban, no governor in the nation would have the cojones to call out the Nat'l Guard to remove them. (remember Kent State?)

Perhaps what we should be doing now is developing the network necessary to swiftly mobilize a very large group of people to peacefully convene at the capital of any state contemplating such a ban.

Thank you for recognizing the obvious. As you mentioned, it IS unlikely that we would have so much "luck" to be in Henry Bowman's [Unintended Consequences] shoes at the right time and the right place, and to have friends with hog farms. But, it is the SOP that they follow that should be noted. "Patriots, Surviving the Coming Collapse" has its share of questionable events as well. It depicts an economic collapse which leads to a melt down of society. It details the lives of a group of survivalists that had prepared for such an event, and how they survived and eventually conquered a UN lead takeover of the US. It's an excellent reference reading, as well as an intriguing story. But what's most revealing, is the preparation details. You can learn alot by reading this book...I promise.

As for protesting, I will not alter my opinion. Especially after seeing the latest protests at the WTO and IMF meetings, whereby tear gas was deployed. These events sent a message, as well as accellerated the preparation for such events by the police that must protect the conspirators behind the global tyranny, masked by some legitimate sounding "finance meetings".

To even contemplate such a protest with armed citizens, would be literal suicide. The globalist guards are not our enemies. Most of them would quit those jobs immediately upon finding out what they are protecting. So, who would hear our voices, "What do we want?...FREEDOM!...When do we want it?...NOW!" It's a waste of energy at this point. Our government is far too corrupted at this point to threaten seats with votes. We end up replacing one conspirator with another, who simply has a better poker face.

The inevitable WILL happen in our lifetimes my friends. If it doesn't, then we will be submitting to the enslavement of our children, or their children.

Keep your heads cool, and work on preparation...and keep your powder dry.

The first thing I would do is show up at my state reps office in person. She wouldn't leave until I said so.

Second, find the governor. Meet him. Talk with him.

Third, guns? I can't tell them if I have guns. That's self-incrimination. If they claim to know that I have guns, they are in obvious violation of the Brady Bill.

Fourth, file charges of treason against all those who signed the bill into law.

Fifth, if that fails... I don't want to think about it.

I will have to pick it up if nothing else but for a good read. & too, zip slam re "the obvious" in UC/JR, a very fine read, and well worth it for its thought-provoking "nature." Sure made me think.

aDifference in our (TRT) protesting versus the "dudes" at the IMF, etc. is that we are, in the vast majority, supported by the very police who "watch over us." And I'll not alter my tune neither.

I've no doubt that if the tide turned (a la several threads re "where would YOU stand - LEOs - when/if the guns are outlawed/if you liked the war on drugs, you're gonna love the war on guns") .... I do believe that many LEOs would turn on the gas - after all they've a pension to worry about. (and this is not neccessarily a slam at LEOs ... still, a bit curious about "what freedom is worth & that fine line between "you don't get guns anymore but we still get to keep ours" mentality)

However.

We have yet, and will not, ever give them a chance to turn on the gas, so to speak, because we are completely lawful in every aspect. Take that.

I've yet to even propose any such thing. & I'd agree with you, for now & up to a point.
& another however, if such a "protest" was in the offing, I'd suspect that we would have our bases covered quite well (specifically picked terrain & pre-placed covering fire) & the "watchers" wouldn't dare ('course, they wouldn't know) & if so, would have their hat handed to them pronto. Hypothetically speaking, of course.

Hide them, you just might as well hand them over. Move out of state thats an option, but what happens when guns are banned in all states, then what are you going to do? I know that if the time came and most other options exhuasted I would fight for my rights. And by fight I don't mean legislatively by righting letters and attempting to inform antis of how flawed their statistics and stupid their misconceptions ar as I currently do, I mean down and dirty all out combat. You want my guns, come and get'em, just be prepared to face the consequences.
 
I'm a "law and order" kinda guy, so this is really a difficult question for me, but one that I have been asking myself a lot recently... especially since I live in the republik of Maryland. Until the ban happens, I will talk to others, and try to counter some of the BS that the news media, politicians, and outfits like HCI is shoveling... if it does come to an outright ban, I think the politicians will find that the citizens of this country don't line up like sheep going to the slaughter, to turn in their guns... the politicians should never mistake a quiet demeanor for indifference or weakness...

Enough said... for those that are posting what you would do, and how you would do it... remember the old saying "loose lips sink ships" or to put it in more modern terms "Trust No One". I'm not a lawyer, but I think even talk of armed rebellion is illegal (sedition)
