GoSlash27 are you saying...

That in order for the absurd bills to be taken away, there must be a case presented to the Supreme Court? I thought that even if no case is made, the Supreme Court would at least look at laws regarding the Patriot Act and other laws that are also dangerous against our Constitution. Kind of hard for checks and balances to work effectively if blatantly un-Constitutional laws are passed and the Supreme Court does nothing to stop it.

I respect Mr. Bush and the fact that he actually committed to do what Mr. Clinton saw needed to be done but wimped out. Our freedom in this country is greater than that experianced by our parents in WW-II, our grandparents in WW-I, our great grandparents in the Civil War, our great great grandparents in the War of 1812. Come on people, time to wake up! We may not be at war with islamofasism but it is at war with us.

Goal of the terrorists is creation of a Global Caliphate, where every nation falls under the Sharia, where everyone is either Muslim or in dimitude status. Those that refuse to convert and submit to dimitude status would be killed.
This is the most concise and profound statement I've read on this forum in the last 2 years. The "open minded" sophomores here need to get it (with one slight spelling correction to the word Dhimmitude) tattooed on their arms so they can find it when they need it.

STLRN - Thank you for your selfless service to our country. You are a better man than I. My family thanks you and your family for the sacrifices you have made in your life so we can continue to live in freedom and security.

That said, you don't get to choose the people for whom you are fighting. You are preserving the freedom of people like me and people who think you are a mindless baby killer.

Godspeed.

Threads like these are why I don’t come by TFL near as often as I used to. Lots of people seem to have nothing better to do than blame Bush for (insert topic of the week here). There are some plain and simple facts:

Laws and policies passed by Congress and signed by Bush, have prevented terrorists from entering America and have significantly aided in preventing actual planned attacks on Americans going about their daily lives.

Fighting in Iraq has occupied the time, money, and resources of terrorists and has limited their ability to kill Americans going about their daily lives.

Intelligence gathered from the War in Iraq has led to effect law enforcement action taken against terrorists, which has in turn limited their ability to kill Americans going about their daily lives.

While I would be happy to debate the constitutionality of various laws or policies with people that don’t have an agenda, it is important to keep in mind that the majority of actions taken by the Bush administration have in fact been effective in killing and capturing terrorists and disrupting their plans, which is the entire point of the actions in the first place.

I am freakin' sick of the tone on this forum as of late.
