That's it! Unfortunately my copy of the Standard Catalog of S&W only goes to 2004 and that serial number is a more recent one. If you call S&W customer service they will give you the manufacture date over the phone.Okay, I'm slowly catching on...

I was wondering about that. It has a hole for a lock, and the keys are in the case. :-(That's it! Serial numbers ran from S207000 in 1961 to S219999 in 1962.I inherited a S&W Model 29 box set with 3 barrels and trying to get info on the year and rough value. I think I found it to be 1961-ish, but haven't found any details on a similar set like this with the box. Serial # is S2080XX. See images and let me know!
Recently purchased a Smith and Wesson Model 60. Serial number is AYN2047. I have received conflicting reports on when this gun was made. Can anyone shed some light on this?
82 to 86 is all the Book shows.Recently inherited my grandfather's S&W 357 (N955220) and was hoping to get a production year on it. I did see in a previous post that N9xxxxx ran from 1982 to 1986, but wasn't sure if anyone could give a more specific year.
Thanks in advance for any help/info!
1994.Picked recently up a Smith 442 with what looks like factory satin nickel finish, I know they were only out for a few years in the 90's
Just curious what year it was made.

Thanks!
It would be a .38 Military & Police (postwar). They became the model 10 when S&W began assigning model numbers around 1957.I have a revolver 38 Spl and I would to know what model is the serial number is C120407
