I've come across a really nice S&W model 60 in mint condition with serial number 291xx and I'm curious when it was manufactured. Any help is appreciated!

year made by serial number

Hello,
I am looking to identify the year a .38 S&W was made.
not sure the model number, because it is not in my hands yet.
but it is a small frame with 4" barrel and the serial number is
J575849

I would appreciate any help

Papawof2,

The SCSW shows a value of $500 in Very good to $1K in Excellent.

Model 64, S/N BSN60xx
1994/95.

I bought this S&W last night I know it is a pre Model My Guess is the Pre K 22 Serial number is 282XXX
Perfect 100 % Condition
K282xxx dates your K-22 to 1956.
While it is in minty condition it is missing it's original grips. The ones on it are about 20 years newer and that's a big hit on the value.
That said, about $750 is my guess.

S&W model 60 in mint condition with serial number 291xx
Take the SN from the underside of the frames grip butt. You may have to remove the grips to see it.
See pic in post #5562.

1976/77.

Hi, I'm trying to find out information on a S&W 38 Special revolver that I got from my dad years ago.

SN# S 838XXX

I would love to know when it was manufacturered.

It appears to have ivory grips, but I guess they could be synthetic.

Thanks,

Ray

Model 15-3 date

Going through stuff prior to a move, I ran a across a model 15-3, 4" barrel.
SN 8K1XXXX

I haven't seen any serials like that in this thread, and was wondering what I have.

Thanks in advance,
Clint

serial number J461xxx
Serial numbers ran from J370001 in 1976 to J610000 in 1977.
If it's truely unfired and in 100% condition then about $600 or more depending on location and how bad a collector wants it.

SN# S 838XXX
38 Military & Police (post war).
Serial numbers ran from S811120 in 1945 to S999999 in 1948.

i have the serial # it is 239xxx
S&W reused serial numbers on different models many years ago so I need to figure out what model you have first.
Is it a modern swing out cylinder or an older break-top (barrel tips down to load)?

SN 8K1XXXX
1975.

I've got a Smith & Wesson .32 Revolver here, has "32 LONG CTG" on the right side of barrel, with the number 470666 on the underside of the grip and on the back of the cylinder, it also has 85727 printed on the inside of the cylinder.

This .32 I-frame belonged to my grandparents and is quite dear to me. The last patent date is Dec 28. 1914 and the serial # is 338xxx. Any help dating the revolver would be appreciated.

Thank you very much. I bought this gun FTF and was afraid I had paid to much, but based on your estimate I got a great deal. Thanks again.

If it's a round butt then it's a .32 Hand Ejector 3rd Model.
Square butt would be a .32 Regulation Police.
Serial numbers for both ran from 263001 in 1917 to 536684 in 1942.

I have a 32-20 CTG
It's a .32-20 Hand Ejector 4th Change.
Serial numbers ran from 65701 in 1915 to 144684 in 1940.
Best guess on your SN of 111xxx is late 1920's to early 1930's.

Do not use modern .32-20 ammo designated for rifles in this gun.

S&W Model 649-2 Manufacture date & questions

I just bought a very nice S&W 649-2 for my wife. She describes it as very "comfortable" what ever that means ? I'm reasonably certain it was manufactured between 1988 and 1990 but would like to narrow it down a bit. The Serial Number is BND13XX. Can anyone help me ?

I would like to purchase an Uncle Mike's Sidekick holster for it. However Uncle Mike's web site leaves a lot to be desired when selecting the right size product.
Any advice ?

I also was able to find some good information re: feeding it +P ammo thanks to this forum. Thanks guys !
