Smith and Wesson serial number search

Thank you very much for letting me know Jim.

Not really sure what I mean by perfect...but it has no scratches, no blemishes on the blue'ing, etc.

My neighbor picked up a Model 15 (3) and I was hoping someone could look up the year it was made. The serial number is 8K60XXX. TIA

Year of Manufacture

I just purchased a 19-3 in combat configuration with a 2.5" barrel and early style Pachymar grips. I would appreciate your help determining the year-of-manufacture.
SN# 12K 42XX
Many thanks if you can be of assistance!

I was just given a S&W M&P 4" nickel, 38 special. serial #301***. All the serial numbers match. Mechanically excellent but bad finish. Could you tell me about it?

The serial number is D610***
SN's ran from D510001 in 1973 to D659901 in 1974.

SN's ran from 1 in 1878 to 97574 in 1892.
Book prices from 2006 show $400 in Excellent to $1200 As New.
6" or longer barrel adds a premium.

I was just given a S&W M&P 4" nickel, 38 special. serial #301***.
Assuming there is no letter prefix, that SN dates it to ~1920.
It would be a .38 M&P 4th Change which ran from 1915 to the end of WWII.
It went on to become the Model 10 when S&W starting assigning model numbers ~1957.

The latest edition of the Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson only covers serial numbers up to 2004.
JRE31XX is after that date.
You can call or email S&W and they will provide the date of manufacture for free.
