Smith and Wesson serial number search

I can supply some DOB's:

Let It Bleed, yup '54.
In other words there is a lot of space in between the K and the numbers
I have a '48 M&P with the same long space between the K and #'s (love The Stones:D)

mikejonestkd, my SCS&W lists the #'s from '62 starting w/ 295000 then the next listing is '69 w/796544. My best guess would be '65.

b79holmes, '69

Nrozelle, If it's a M&P (Military and Police) it would be sometime between 1913-1915. That's my best guess, the listing in the SCS&W has 1909-1915 listed as 146900-241703.

Thanks for the knowledge bumnote. Yep. gotta love the Stones. Even as grandpas they can put on a hell of a show. Plus most of their best music didn't get radio play, but anyhoo, do you know what year S&W went from 5 screw to 4 screw?

Bumnote, thanks for the DOB! my new to me 36 was a BUG for a Rochester PD officer years ago and his widow had to sell it, barely used in 40 + years...NICE

i found an older smith 15-3 while helping clean out an elderly womans house, offered to purchase it. she insisted i take it for helping. i was thankful and added it to my small collection. how do i find out date of mfg ser# is1k601xx any info would be greatly appreciated

I have 2 for ya

19-3 P&R 8K15xxx

28-2 P&R N9xx

Also on my 28-2 there is a fitting over the stock trigger making it wider then normal. outside the trigger guard on one side and it is fixed to the regular trigger via 2 small allen screws. does that ring any bells with anyone?
