SIG's "Legion" Series

It sounds more like Sig is selling a "club membership" than a gun. After reading the 3/4th's of the press release that doesn't say anything about the gun itself, you get to the part that says how these guns will be "different". Front cocking serrations, gray pvd coating, undercut trigger guard, G10 grips with special medallion, slightly different style trigger. That's about it.

This should appeal to the Harley-Davidson crowd. I'm just not a Harley guy. Vmax and Rocket III are more my thing.:D

Truth About Guns review.

This sounds promising:

SIG’s presser informs us that the P229 Legion Series possesses “an enhanced polished action” with a “SRT (Short Reset Trigger)” augmented with a “Grayguns Intermediate Adjustable Trigger” with a “solid steel guide rod to add weight where it matters most.” Not to mention the Master Shop Super Match Flat Trigger. I can inform you that the result is firearms fingertip fellatio. Too much? Let me put it this way: I hate double-action/single-action triggers. A gun with two different trigger pulls for safety’s sake is like having a red hot sports sedan with a mandatory comfort mode. Oh wait. Anyway, the P229 LS puts paid to my prejudice. The P229 Legion Series’ 10lbs. DA trigger pull is as good as anything you’ll find on one of the aforementioned S&W Performance Center models. It’s long, of course, but smooth and predictable. You can stage the SIG’s trigger like the Metropolitan Opera stages Tannhäuser (i.e. perfectly).

Just as The Dodge Boys’ over-engined SRT models git ‘er done, SIG’s SRT gives the P229 LS scarcely credible horsepower. By that I mean the P229 LS is the fastest shooting semi-automatic handgun I’ve ever fired. In SA mode, the SIG’s trigger pull decreases to a scant 4.4 lbs. At the same time, the rock-solid reset is closerthanthis to the trigger’s breaking point. Shooting double taps – or emptying the 15-round mag – is faster than a knife fight in a phone booth.

Reliability: * * * *
Two double feeds in 200 rounds of Winchester White Box. All self-defense ammo fed perfectly. Didn’t see that one coming.

Overall Rating: * * * * *
I forgive the double-feed because love.

It's a fun read, but above is part of why I take a lot of reviews, magazine or internet, with a block of salt.

They are about $150 too high but the fanboys from the Sig Forum bought all of the P229s. LOL I found one that I could have shipped to my FFL for $1124.

For about the same money give or take $100 I am sending my 75B to Cajun Gun Works and will pick up a Sphinx Alpha Fullsized once they hit the stores.

One sweet firearm!

To all those who seem to be against marketing gimmicks to sell guns or anything else for that matter you have my sympathy and understanding. Marketing often leads the weak minded amongst us to spend money we don't have and buy things we don't need which rarely ever live up to the hype. That being said I did not buy a Sig Sauer Legion P229 in .357 sig because of marketing. I bought it because it is one sweet firearm! Guns are rarely things of beauty. Typically in my experience they appear functional as one would expect. My Legion looks beautiful and the fact that it shoots extremely well doesn't hurt either lol. To those opposed to marketing gimmicks for the sake of being opposed to them often times you're right but it can be unfair to judge a book by its marketing rather than on what merits it may or may not have. In my opinion the Legion speaks for itself.

Nice first post, MiB. Welcome to TFL. It's a good place for shooters to talk. Some First-Rate experts here. And some who think they know something, sometime, like me :D

Why did you pick that cartridge? Do you find it even more muzzle-blasty than the .40 S&W?
